A Biltmore Christmas (2023)
Tissues anyone?
This is the best Hallmark Movie I have seen in quite a while, Christmas or otherwise. After accepting the power of the Hourglass had to time travel, I was all in. Probably because Lucy was able to control her traveling while she adjusted to the idea, and figure out her future plans. Kristopher, portraying Jack, was very convincing as a movie star from the 40's. In some way he reminded me of Clark Gable. I loved the way he used his face to give us all his emotions. Bethany Jo Lenz is at her very best! I will watch this one over and over just like Lucy and her sister watched their favorite movie, with tissues, every Christmas.
Last Christmas (2019)
Keep The Tissues Handy
I loved every moment of this wonderful movie. The storyline was totally plausible. The reformation of the main character, through her "chance" encounter with a handsome stranger. He does everything he can to make her life better. He provides an opportunity for her to have a place to live once her friends kick her out. He encourages her outlook on her job. He is constantly telling her to "look up", a phrase that will be explained at the end. Although she feels devastated when he does not return her expressions of love, that will also be explained in the ending. The final 15 minutes of the movie reveals the answers to the mystery. This is one time I did not guess the secrets ahead of time. And I am glad I didn't. 😊
Long Lost Christmas (2022)
Genuine Story, Realistic Characters, Kleenex Worthy
As an adopted child myself, I related to every minute of this wonderful movie. The back stories of Orphanage and Foster Care were factually realistic and not emotionally exaggerated. Every actor from leads to supporting roles were genuine, and not overly acted at any time. It often appeared as if they were good friends outside of the movie business too. After her father's recent passing,
our lead has the best intentions and a sincere desire to make her mother's Christmas meaningful. She discovers an old photo in the
attic while looking for ornaments, and is shocked to learn her mother has a brother who she was separated from at their Orphanage. The remainder of the movie deals with her tracking down her "uncle" and also discovering she has a cousin. Keep the tissues handy. Family IS everything.
Inventing the Christmas Prince (2022)
Invention Gone Wrong
First of all, I was highly disappointed that Caitlin Cromwell Stryker who played a major character received no Cast credit! She is a very talented, versatile actor who is always a treat to watch. As the best friend and confidant of the female lead it was confusing that she received no acknowledgement.
Several times I was tempted to stop this movie because the storyline is so fake and forced. Not even worthy of Fairytale status. Over-the-top acting by Mowbray, who I usually enjoy. Dead acting by the male lead who did not seem invested. I would like to see him in another movie for a second chance. The daughter was unevenly appealing, but again I would like to see her in something else. No problem deleting this one.
Sit. Stay. Love. (2021)
Stick with it for the story, not the actors.
First of all, I had to ignore Aunt Claire whenever she spoke. Forced dialogue and overly acted expressions. The Dad actor was different and never really warmed up to him. Several events in the beginning almost made me skip this entirely. Riding a bike in the snow, the "closed-down" animal shelter and its owner Gary, the fact that a Veterinarian didn't know what the breed name of a hairless cat was. Finally, 20 minutes into the story, some other characters gave the story more life. I stuck with this movie out of curiosity and because I love animals. But it won't be on my Christmas list next year. (PS: too much baby talk by the main character who supposedly knew how to raise dogs)
Deliver by Christmas (2020)
One I Am Keeping To Watch Again
One of the most genuine Christmas Movie Storylines I have seen. Although it's not a new idea, it is less contrived than some I have watched. It's sweet and low-key, and the sequence of events is entirely possible. The unaware Crossing of Paths, watching each other from afar, and of course the lovely phone conversations. They fall in love through the sound of each others voices and the emotions they feel while talking. I am often curious as to the requirements for airing a Hallmark Movie on the "Movies and Mysteries" channel rather than the regular Hallmark Channel. It doesn't seem like one. Give this movie your time and attention, you won't regret it.
A Splash of Love (2022)
Scenery Couldn't Save This One
I was really looking forward to this movie since my husband and I recently went on a whale-watching excursion during our Alaskan Cruise. Not enough Whale encounters to salvage this one! A Marine Biology PhD student "afraid" of the cold ocean water? No knowledge of how to scientifically collect water samples? During the first 10 minutes the female lead got lost using a paper map and was repeatedly doused
by a motorized rubber boat doing donuts too close to shore. The male lead who ran a whale watching excursion business was "surprised" to discover whales in a certain place where they should have been anyway. The obligatory Aurora Borealis sky views at night. I agree with everyone who was irritated by the OMG teenage squealing of the female lead which continued throughout the movie. OMG is right!!!
Campfire Christmas (2022)
The Flashbacks Drove This Story
Because the basic storyline was a Summer Camp Reunion, I was hoping for meaningful flashbacks. These were handled skillfully with the main character Peyton rereading her Summer Camp Journals. It provided the perfect vehicle for "where are they now". And made me relate to all of the main characters. The actors cast as the younger campers successfully matched their adult counterparts. Although there was no great mystery to solve it was a story I wanted to watch.
On a smaller side note, I appreciated the fact that Caitlin Cromwell's character was allowed to wear her hair in many genuine styles for an African American Woman.
Crashing Through the Snow (2021)
Irritating Characters
I had a hard time warming up to this movie. I didn't enjoy watching any of the characters in the beginning. They seemed shallow and overplayed. Eventually I got on board with the story line. Warren Christie had me at hello, but I never liked Kristian Brauun's portrayl. Maybe he's better in a different context. I only stuck with this movie for the ending.
Follow Me to Daisy Hills (2020)
Cindy Busby's Voice!
I realize that Cindy Busby has always had a nasally voice. Usually her lighthearted dialog makes that more tolerable. But combining her voice quality with her arrogant, self-centered character was a disaster. I kept watching for all the other characters and the storyline. Cindy, stick with the positive characters.
Right in Front of Me (2021)
4 Words~Marco Grazzini, Janel Parrish!
I started smiling and laughing within the first 15 minutes. I was not as familiar with Janel and have only seen Marco as a secondary character before. From the beginning of this movie their chemistry was obvious. It is the reason I kept watching to see them finally have their "Happily Ever After". This movie also allows the other actors honestly cheer each other on and not play their jealousy cards. The only thing that I didn't like was the clunky necklace "Carly" wore with the beautiful dress she designed. Otherwise, be ready to smile 😃
Summer Villa (2016)
A Joy-filled Movie
I started laughing from the first "ground rules" setting scene early in the Movie. The 3 main characters continued to play off each other. Even the food fight was spontaneous and funny. Afterwards, no one tried to clean anyone else's face in a romantic gesture.
The relationship between the teenage daughter and her mother was also very realistic. Teenage girls naturally argue about almost everything. The conversation between the two adults while trying to give each other advice about their careers was very plausible. This movie could have been shown in a theater, it was that good.
Please ignore all the negative comments about shoes and sleepwalking and French accents. Just prepare to watch, laugh out loud, and enjoy this sweet movie.
The 27-Hour Day (2021)
All Of My Favorite Actors
The 2 lead actors are in my top 10 category for their expertise at portraying any Character. I was equally excited to see many of my favorite supporting actors in this movie, who fit so well into this storyline. The movie provides a much-needed reminder for setting priorities between work and family. I feel the ending is very realistic and let's the viewer form their own opinions.
Amazing Winter Romance (2020)
Gentle, Sweet, and Comforting
I loved all aspects of this movie. For every review that was negative because it was sweet and simple, those were the positive points for me. I was grateful not to have too much drama and characters that were kind to each other from start to finish. Relax, breathe and be a-mazed.
Falling for You (2018)
The Leads Led
Contrary to other reviews, I loved the Taylor~Tyler combination. I felt they played off each other well at just the right pace. And small town stories are my favorites. A comfortable movie for a rainy day.
Easter Under Wraps (2019)
I really wanted to like this movie.
I chose this movie based on the 2 leads. I like all of the other movies that Brendan Penny has stared in. And I like Fiona Gubelmann's character on The Good Doctor. However, they weren't strong enough to carry this script. I began to get annoyed with the way the Daughter's character was acted, too forced? I wish I had my 90 minutes back.
Feeling Butterflies (2022)
A Science Lesson within a Good Movie
I thoroughly enjoyed all of the background Scientific knowledge I learned during this movie. It elevated the content of the script. The chemistry between the two leads was believable as it built throughout the movie. And the daughter was very well acted and realistic. I am now inspired to plant more Butterfly attracting plants this Spring.
An Unexpected Christmas (2021)
2 of My Favorite Lead Actors
I am a new Hallmark Movie fan, as of January 2022. I have already begun to zero in on my favorite acting duos. Bethany Joy Lenz and Tyler Hynes are near the top. I truly enjoyed every scene where they battled wits. I found those moments very plausible since they had dated for so long. It's never the wrong time of year to watch a lovely Christmas movie.
