The Compleat Beatles (1982)
great biography of the beatles told by the great malcolm mcdowell.
when i was just becoming a beatle fan, i watched this and learned a lot about the fab four. great footage and information. i'm glad paul asked malcolm mcdowell to narrate this film. he is after all, my humble narrator.

Josie and the Pussycats (2001)
not bad.
when i first saw this movie, i thought it was kind of silly and childish. but after the second time, i grew to like it. why? i agree with the whole message about "pop" bands and selling their music thru products and etc.
great cast and i enjoyed the music. glad to see a female teen rock band (being a teen girl myself). some of the things are still a bit silly but some of the things makes the film and characters cute. i loved it when melody beat the crap out of carson daly. girl power there!

Time After Time (1979)
very cute and clever.
"time after time" is about h.g. wells (malcolm mcdowell) chasing after jack the ripper (david warner) who escaped to 1979 in well's time machine. while wells searches and gets adjusted to 1979 san francisco, he meets banker amy robbins (mary steenburgen) who helps him find jack the ripper and eventually both fall in love. however, when they play around with time, both find out that amy is about to be one of jack the ripper's victims.
i am a big fan of malcolm mcdowell. he amazes me everytime i see him. i'm so used to him being a villian and/or in x-rated films. he was great as the sweet, innocent herbert george wells. david warner was perfect as jack the ripper. he makes a great bad guy. i wasn't too impressed with mary steenburgen's acting as amy robbins. there were just times when i could tell she was faking things. with mcdowell and warner i believed they were h.g. wells and jack the ripper. perhaps that's just me.
i enjoyed this movie a lot. a bit like the film "frequency" but gey, this one came out before "frequency." i give kudos to malcolm again and to david. i don't know about mary steenburgen though...she wasn't that bad in the movie "powder" (first movie i ever saw her in) but in this one, i'll have to think about it.

A Fish Called Wanda (1988)
another one of my favorites.
this movie is HILARIOUS and very clever. excellent cast. jamie lee was great as the stunning wanda. john cleese was wonderful as the lonely barrister who falls for wanda. michael palin was excellent as the stuttering, animal-loving ken. and of course kevin kline. absolutely perfect as the egotistical, racist otto.
get this movie. you'll be cracking up thru the whole thing. especially when otto does his famous line "A*****E!!!"

Magical Mystery Tour (1967)
great music but....
i myself am a huge beatles fan but when i saw this film, i was a bit disappointed. the plot is just well...difficult to understand. i was questioning everything. so much of the stuff didn't make sense. only thing that kept me watching this movie was the great music and i thought john looked cute there. most people didn't like it but who knows you might. one way to find out. 3/10
