A beautiful, passionate movie; a rarity of our time...
25 March 2002
"All The Pretty Friends", this is what i call this heartfelt, splendid movie; I watched this movie about a few minutes ago and had an immeasurable joy. Damon, Thomas, Black and Cruz all shine in their key roles and they had me relieved like hell... The gorgeous, breathtaking locations and Thornton's faultless direction add to the flavor. A real treat this movie is.

Fiorile (1993)
A Beautifully complex, intense story
10 March 2002
Driving to visit his ill father in Italian countryside, a father recalls the story of his family for his daughter and son...this unforgettable story of human greed and dishonesty and how wealth can taint the spirit is one of the most intense and moving stories i've ever come across with... juxtaposition of present and past in the same sets and the multiple roles characters play is as precious as the script and photography.... don't miss this one even if you're too busy.

Cute, Brainless fun!!!
8 March 2002
This cute, little comedy, about a sorority queen who-in order to win back her `THE ONE'- decides to study Law at Harvard!!!, is so Formulaic and clichéd you can't bear in mind ….. but it's endlessly sweet and enjoyable that for at least once in the last few months you decide to forget everything & feel havin' fun. The central character is so sympathy- arousing ,`Determined' and "Maddening" that you once forget the famous cliché LIFE'S A BITCH!!!! (Ignore the deep holes in the script too, SVP!!!).....Have fun,if you have plenty of time ....

A mesmerizing, harrowing odyssey thru hell .....
9 February 2002
This harrowing travel down the depths of Amazon forests on rafts and the horrific encounters along the way is certainly one of my alltime favorites...I watched FITZCARRALDO over 10 years ago and was so petrified I couldn't talk to anyone about it .. and AGUIRRE.... was a fantastic deeply felt movie about the human greed and the unflinching desire for power and gold. But is El Dorado real? The filming on river and in the jungles, esp the opening sequence , are so difficult that even the viewer can feel the intensity and depth of every single move by Herzog and the crew. Kinski delivers a top-notch, unbelievable performance (I can never forget him in FITZCARRALDO's finale). The ending is among the best I can remember.

An Exceptionally fantastic movie ......
26 January 2002
Deserved winner of Palme D'or at Cannes 2000, This movie is a work of magic. An ordinary story told in a somewhat strange style(Of course not to Von Trier fans)and boosted by a knockout, bravura performance by the Bizarre-singing Icelander Bjork(I really wonder how he talks the actresses into this but I can never forget Emily Watson's Performance in "Breaking The Waves" either)and the rest of the cast of multinational talents. Von Trier's cinematic style may sound jarring and incomprehensible for some viewers(Again I'm talking about casual movie-watchers)but the brilliance is way down inside the facade and it genuinely captivates. She sees her life as a Hollywood musical and all her dreams are brought to life in a musical fashion that's absolutely unique and intriguing. she stays honest until the heartbreaking finale and carries her secret to her grave.Maybe HONESTY ISN'T THE BEST POLICY. I wept in the final scene.

Bananas (1971)
Woody's Masterpiece to date.
25 January 2002
"Bananas"- AS Woody has put it himself- is his bid for a masterpiece, and it truly is; It's side-splittingly hilarious account of a Bimbo, who-in a series of very funny and bizarre turn of events- turns up as the president of "SAINT MARCUS"-A banana republic-and ..... . The gags in this irresistible comedy are enough to make 5 comedies ;the acting, writing, directing and everything is super-duper. My favorite is the new laws for Saint Marcus by the newly-elected president...." From Now on the official language of Saint Marcus is Swedish!!!!!!"................... Noone writes funnier dialog!

Heartbreakers (2001)
A cute, funny, "HORNY" comedy .......
17 January 2002
This funny comedy starts really nice in that magnificent church and the religious writing on the wall,"what's a man's profit if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul!!!!!!" and vows of a moribund

nuptials. Sigourney and Jenny are perfect (on JENNY's part monumental physical perfection would be fitter!) and Gene Hackman dies one of the most hilarious deaths in movie history ... the dialog is funny enough to guarantee total amusement and the sets are gorgeous . Buy enough snacks 'cause THE CON IS ON !!!!!

A likable thriller brightened by F.S. .....
17 January 2002
I have already seen "Seven", "The bone collector" and "Copycat", so naturally this doesn't seem to surprise me or anything like that, but I had a great time watching Frank Sinatra in his last major movie appearance and was equally shocked to see Faye Dunaway so woefully wasted on a hospital bed and not enough lines for an amateur let alone ... the screenplay is just fine and the supporting characters, esp. that old curator, hit the right notes. Sinatra's strong presence virtually lifts it out of the ordinary.

Moulin Rouge! (2001)
A colorful, magnificent, unforgettable movie experience ...
15 January 2002
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return". I watched MOULIN ROUGE just an hour ago. It's so touching and real-inspite of director's unusual touch-that when it's finished, it leaves you screaming for more. Like "ROMEO+JULIET", this is another extraordinary movie; it starts so fast and surprising that you can't move an inch on your seat! the set designs, music, acting and all about this movie are fabulous; the insertion of some of the most memorable

love songs and the oldfashioned romance is so tantalizing, you can't believe. "Does anybody know what we are living for?" I personally doubt it, but like the film, I belive Love is eternal but SHOW MUST GO ON... the finale is a heartbreaker.

A flat, tasteless shaggy dog joke ......
14 January 2002
Is this a movie? Can you even believe the Oscar-winning Ms.

Roberts was able to do such a mess? The movie started so unbelievably corny and dull that left nothing more to say .... And I've got

nothing more to say 'cept "A SUPREMELY TALENTED CAST DOWN THE DRAIN ... ALL TO NO AVAIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A sacred piece of Insanity ......
14 January 2002
What can I say? Emir Kusturica is my favorite filmmaker ( Of course after my idol Abbas Kiarostami ) and he's made my No. 1 (UNDERGROUND) . this unique work of art recounts the story of Danube Gypsies in a remarkable, WACKY fashion .... Can anyone else in the world create such a story ... and the music is supremely one-of-a-kind like the film itself . it really demands multiple viewings.

A gem of a movie that unfolds just like a good book ....
3 January 2002
A real gem. This movie deals with something unbelievably precious; It reminds us how guilt-ridden we can be in the eyes of God.

are there miracles out there? Can we really feel them? The movie deals with the subject of supernatural in a delicate way and cherishes us with the unforgettable warmth of Love.

The central characters all rate and receive ineffable performances; Michael Clark Duncan, Tom Hanks, David Morse and Michael Jeter all are extraordinarily fabulous in an unforgettable, deeply moving movie not to be missed even by non movie fans; don't miss this one!

Underground (1995)
This is the most splendid visual experince of my life.........
30 December 2001
I first saw "UNDERGROUND" in 1996 about a year after it was shown

at Cannes and winning the highest honor in the world of cinema; Palme D'or was the tiniest honor that could be awarded to this eternal masterpiece ..... I have seen over 3000 movies so far and keep on watching at least 10 every week but nothing can ever replace even the memory of this unique work of art.....

I have seen all Kusturica's movies; His touch is so magical and his technique so unique, that I dare to say noone can't even imagine to be able to make another better movie And it'll remain the best movie of my life ... ETHEREAL AND OUT OF THIS WORLD .......

Fearless (1993)
A captivating, intense odyssey thru the mind of a survivor...
30 December 2001
When I first watched "FEARLESS", I was quite ready to;As usual I'd bought enough snack to last me thru the film..... I'd read about it already but it was far better than what I'd expected.... Peter Weir, I believe is an exceptional film-maker; Truman show, Green card and.. touch you with something you are acquainted with but never

approached in your mind(or maybe never dared to!)... Jeff Bridges gives a bravura performance matched by a full-blown supporting cast; Isabella Rosellinni and Rosie Perez are both fabulous in highly sensitive key roles.

Human beings are all weak and there's no argument... I just sank in my armchair and had an impeccable fun!
