If you're hungry for a nostalgic teen thriller then look no further

I adore this movie and it's criminal that I had heard nothing about it until a fantastic YouTube channel called nerd explains talked about it.

I really enjoyed stranger things and I enjoy horror , thrillers and a good nostalgic movie.

This ticks all of those boxes , a brilliantly simple but well written flick that can scratch all of your itches , good characters with interesting backstory and a great round of performances.

It is rare you find a straight to stream movie that is actually good , so this was a welcome surprise , I watched it on Amazon prime but I'm sure it's elsewhere.

Great horror elements without cgi, tense and building plot and interesting characters.

Worth a watch 100%

Barbarian (2022)

Be afraid of the dark...

I was really impressed by this film, the cast and the effects.

For starters the tension throughout (especially act 1) is *chefs kiss* it perfectly balances and leaves you guessing and leaves you unsettled from the get go.

The acting performances throughout were great , Justin long especially did a fantastic job and it was nice to see bill skarsgard in another film.

This films setting and theme was great and me and my partner definitely found ourselves tense and uncomfortable.

This film balances its tension , gore and dark humour excellently and that in itself is a massive achievement.

I'd definitely pay to see this again.

Black Adam (2022)

Very 2000s and kinda copycat

I really enjoy the rock and I was excited when I heard he was cast as black Adam. A interesting pick admittedly but a good chance none the less.

I went into this optimistic but cautious as the recent DC movies have largely been quite disappointing.

The positives first; The rock did a good job his fish out of water portrayal was good and his sense of humour showed and he has the right aura to play black Adam.

Pierce Brosnan was good and his ability showed, again an interesting pick for a superhero movie.

Now the negatives;

The writers seemed to forget part of their own story, inter gang an all seeing and dominating force that for the last act are completely absent from the film.

The writers also failed to write any meaningful dialogue for most of the cast and there was very little chemistry between the not justice league.

Most of the cast were pretty wooden and did very little to make you care about them.

The cgi was hilarious in some places, especially the final fight and the scenes where the rock was imposed on a smaller body were laughable.

The main problem with this film though is that it feels like a cheap rip off of the avengers; smasher is even wearing a deadpool/black panther mask and seems like a copy of ant man, the dr is essentially dr strange and even uses several of his tricks , falcon is essentially falcon and the archeologist is essentially black widow.

It just seemed very lazy and it overshadows what could've been a fun film.

X (II) (2022)

Under appreciated horror

I was really impressed with this film making a nice change from the common jump scarey ghosts and zombies.

A great setting and intriguing premise brings you a great film that's not to be missed , lots of good scares , gore and tension as well as an interesting dynamic between the cast.

Speaking of the performances all around were great , Jenna ortega proving once again she's got what it takes to be a horror icon.

If you want a horror that's different to the norm and is outside the settings you're used to then this is not to be missed.

Me and my partner really enjoyed this film and we can't wait to see the prequel!

Halloween Ends (2022)

Deeply upset and let down

I genuinely can't explain how upset I am at this I really enjoyed the Halloween legacy sequel (2018) and even the less popular follow up Halloween kills but I feel like all the hard work of the last 2 movies has been completely undone.

This film is best described as 2 arguing people being told both their ideas are happening.

This movie is a mess, it feels like 2 films poorly sewn together.

As much as I adore the returning cast I feel like they're shadows of themselves and their performances all seem disjointed and in some places accidentally hilarious.

This film could have been so much more but instead the writing and the dialogue are purely awful.

A sad end to another classic franchise.

Jamie lee Curtis is an executive producer on this mess, I cannot believe it.

I pray we don't get another sequel, but sadly I think the Hollywood curse will continue.

Don't Worry Darling (I) (2022)

I wanted this to be good I honestly did

Upon first seeing the trailer for this my partner and I were really curious to see how this stylish looking film would go and where the plot would go.

In the run up I saw lots of chaos from the set and drama, cast not talking etc, but I thought best to ignore it I'm sure the film would be fine.

The film it self looks great , the clothing, houses, cars and sets look beautiful as does the cast.

However although it starts interestingly and the plot begins to lead somewhere then it seems to run flat.

I have to say as well that Florence Pugh was great but I feel Harry styles hasn't quite found his feet yet. There's talent there but just not in this movie.

Smile (V) (2022)

Best horror film I have ever seen

This film was deeply unsettling , scary and gory but oh my it was awesome , the performances were great except for one but this film surpassed my expectations massively and gave me and my partner the biggest fright we've ever had.

We are seasoned horror veterans and after seeing the trailer we were intrigued but not hopeful as most modern horrors are pretty samey but this was utterly fantastic , and although in some places you can see what's coming the execution of it is perfect.

You need to experience this but make sure you are aware this is not for the faint of heart.

I'm certain you'll enjoy!

Star Wars: Rebels (2014–2018)

Waste of potential

I really wanted this to be good. I honestly did.

After watching the clone wars which I adored I was excited to see more from filoni and co, but this was pretty bad.

There are some good episodes here and there for example Ashoka vs Vader. However there are also lots of story arcs that are wasted.

However the main issues are the unlikeable cast members other than a few and my main problem is that the same thing happens in almost every single episode, step 1 steal imperial uniform step 2 plan doesn't go right and step 3 oh somehow it works. It honestly implies the audience is stupid.

This show could've been so good but it's not :(

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

This is almost like a parody of the halloween legacy sequels. This film is hilariously bad with its writing, effects and plot. It's so inconsistent.

It's good as a bad horror movie night film for you to laugh at but other than that it's truly awful.

It contains a lot of what's wrong with modern cinema in the sense of it's trying to be clever but instead it comes off as a rip off of halloweens legacy sequels down to the hilarious parody to Laurie strode. How they're not getting sued I don't know.

The acting is genuinely awful, the story makes very little sense and it seems to fail to keep track of its own story. There are so many gaping plot holes.

Please save your time and don't bother with this steaming pile of ....
