Hereditary (2018)
Might help to have a little background
After seeing this I can understand why some people are put off by the ending, I think if they had a little background in occult rituals and how they work it would go a long way toward understanding the film. Years ago I took an interest in Aleister Crowley, and did quite a bit of research on him, more recently I watched a film called A Dark Song, which prompted even more research. That said, the things portrayed in the film are highly simplified, but I had a much better understanding of what was going on than I would have otherwise.
HairBrained (2013)
not bad for an unknown film...
I actually liked this movie, although I can see why others wouldn't. When I started watching, I thought it was a Brendan Frasier film, but it is most definitely not. Although he does a fine job in it, he is most definitely in a supporting role here. The acting was all around pretty good and the jokes, although a bit obscure, were quite good. It seemed to be fairly well written, and definitely had a certain " feel " to it from beginning to end. My suggestion would be that if you enjoy Wes Anderson films, you'll probably enjoy this. It's not quite as Quirky and odd, but definitely has the same vibe to it. Would definitely recommend for a rental.
Stay (2005)
Very good, but not as original as many think
I have never posted before, however I would like to point out that although this is a visually stunning and well written film, it is not completely an original idea.
I do give it credit for not going in the obvious "Sixth sense" direction, however by the end I saw a pretty close resemblance to Jacobs Ladder, also a very good film. Sort seemed like they removed the horror element and went with more drama.
I'd also have to say that the cast was excellent, and all of the acting very good.
All in all a very good film that I would definitely recommend.
