Eubie! (1981)
Gregory HInes Shines
If no one has ever heard Gregory Hines sing or they have just heard the weak ballad with Luther Vandross or his only CD with Luther-like songs on them, they have missed the real G. Hines. Mr. Hines shows true showmanship throughout this play. He dances and sings so well, I'm shocked that we are just left with his tap dancing. He, like Sammy D. Jr. was an entertainer ZENITH! Dancer, singer, actor, musician, and, may I add as a 57 year old woman....a fox.
I always wondered about his brother, who was talented also and to me, much better looking. Everyone did Eubie Blake proud in this play. Someone should remake it on DVD. I'll be looking for it. And if anyone knows where I can get in (NOT EBAY) let me know.
Reading Rainbow: The Gift of the Sacred Dog (1983)
Song by Phoebe Snow
I have been thinking about this song since I first heard it. I recognized Ms Snow's distinct voice and was excited to hear her sing since she had not put out anything in a long time. Now I wonder if anyone knows the NAME of the song from this Reading Rainbow episode. "The Gift of the Sacred Dog." I am not Crow, but I was on the committee of the Potawatomi Nation and I am Muskogee. I love these stories and was very excited also to see that such stories were on a prominent PBS series. I am also a story teller. I have several children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who I do not have contact with. But, if they are able to hear stories like this and go to Pow Wow's I am content. Thank you Reading Rainbow.
