Young Sheldon: A New Home and a Traditional Texas Torture (2024)
Wow. Just...wow.
In addition to what others have stated, I was unprepared for this even though we knew it was coming. I've been a fan of Chuck Lorre and his entire team for years and this just proved my faith in their ability once again.
Very, very well done. I am usually critical of TV and movie writing, but there is barely anything to find fault with this show and especially this episode. Even though the show is ending, I will miss them all, and now especially George Sr.
I hope that anyone reading this will appreciate that it took two shows and 17 years to get to this point. My gratitude that they pulled this off even two episodes short of a finale is immeasurable.
The Court Jester (2024)
Not what I expected, but thankful I watched it.
I think many of us have felt like David (Jesse Heiman) at some points in our lives - being unnoticed and underappreciated. Sometimes it's just a kind word or two that can change someone's life.
I think Pauly Shore nailed it. Richard Simmons is weird, quirky, and yet he is intense in his endeavors to help people. And lovable. Pauly really put that into his performance. If you know Richard's work at all, you could tell that it wasn't coming across as poking fun or a parody, but rather as an homage to an icon.
This is not funny or sappy like you would expect from a Pauly performance. It was uplifting. Well done.
The Contractor (2022)
Not bad, but not great
Firstly, I'm a big fan of Chris Pine and Ben Foster. They did well with what they had to work with. That being said, this could have had a bit more polish in the writing department.
The chemistry with those two were pretty good, but the movie just missed the mark on making me care about any of them. Even Chris Pine's character crossed a line with me, ethically. I know he was in a difficult situation with killing Salim and then the police, but production propped him up to be a stand-up guy we're supposed to be rooting for, but then does unforgivable acts.
Notwithstanding that, I didn't regret watching the movie and was entertained - just not enthralled with it.
