Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015)
PAINFUL AND UNFAIR!
I can still recall crying throughout the entire movie, even though I was only a teenager when I first watched it. And I still have a heavy heart when I see the movie. Every time I watch Vasudha and Aarav's love, it kills me not only because of how awful their circumstances were but also because of my rage at realizing that they could never be together. I am aware that the story of a rich man from a poor family becoming richer and falling in love with a typical poor woman was rather cliché, but the performances were simply lovely. Despite the fact that I am a hopeless romantic, I do know what makes a good movie. They could have just let Vasudha and Aarav be together, but they chose not to do so because not all love stories end happily. We always anticipate a happy ending in a Bollywood drama, but that isn't always the case; most of the time, we don't receive what we want or wish. True love is imperfect yet it is just so beautiful.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (2023)
Decide for yourself :)))
So I watched Tu jhoothi main makkar last night and I really had these outbursts of words that I felt like it had to come out. So talking about the title I really liked the name of the movie but did it go well with the plot? I would say somewhat. So the story is about Ranbir who plays a guy called Mickey who helps people break up. I mean is that even a thing? Like why would people pay so much just to break up? It was really silly though but if we consider Ranbir's acting then obviously he nails it.
So keeping that aside, the story now revolves around how Mickey met Tinni who is an independent woman and was born and brought up in a joint family. So well I guess some people can relate to how traumatizing it can be staying with joint families. So yeah she didn't want to stay in a joint family again since Mickey had a joint family. But I guess we have this perception that joint families are the most toxic ones but well I have never been in a joint family but still, I did get the trauma so I believe it isn't about the quantity of the family that gives you trauma rather the type of people existing does affect.
So Mickey's family seems quite nice and lovable but it suffocates Tinni so when the 2 families are busy moving along with the marriage ceremonies, tinni concocts a plan to break up, and guess whom she calls to break up? Yep, you guessed it right. As she is unaware of the fact that Mickey has a side thing of breaking up people so she contacts him unaware of this fact that she is actually asking Mickey to help her to break her marriage with Mickey. Funny right? I mean this was funny. So the movie revolves mostly around that but the fact that it didn't hit right was the dialogue and the cheesy family dialogues. To be honest, after knowing everything that the girl you want your son to marry wants to leave you all and have her separate house and stuff would you behave in a cheesy manner? I mean I could consider the love and all that but would you be so cringe to kneel and say some weird lines? Ewww. Never mind.
But the songs were really good. I liked every song. And shraddha kapoor looked really hot+cute. It's a deadly combination I must say. The work on dialogues a bit and modifying the plot a bit could've helped. Because we've been seeing that girlfriend going abroad and the guy and the family running to stop her. It's just way too much "ghisapita" I would say. So yeah. As they portrayed the issue of wanting their own space after marriage was a great aspect and the guy stuck to the fact that he has his values from his family and he will stick to that. Up to that, I think that was good. But then again that airport scene just ruined everything. But it isn't a movie which you can't watch at all. You'll enjoy the monologues in certain scenes as well. So it isn't a full 100% disappointment. So watch the movie and decide for yourselves.
