Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (2023)
Endearing
I remember watching the movie on theaters when I was a little kid. I am a fan since then even now that I can see how problematic the plot is. So if you are an original fan of the musical come and see it without predjudice... this series has the spirit of the original ( 50's inspired clothing and sets plus contemporary 70's pop music just as the movie) and if you hated the original because of its mysoginistic take but like the music, this show corrects it giving us strong female characters and good songs. It's Glee done right, and if you were a girl during the 80's and remember fondly Rags to riches, this show is for you. I hope it gets a second season.
Resistance (2020)
Watch it! Great story that needs to be told
Agree with most reviewers, Eisenberg is miscast as Marceau that had charisma out of this world and an incredible command over his body that Jesse is lacking. In spite of this, it's a well produced movie, with a more than compelling story that needs to be pass on. Good rhythm and good acting from everyone (even the leading man is passable just not on Marceau routines but that's why YouTube is for). Definitely a captivating movie with a strong script that could have been an Oscar contender if only the producers would have gone with some other leading actor and another director. That said, still worth to watch.
Diana (2021)
Not A. Lloyd Webber but
With some fixes, I'll completely go to Broadway to see it. Yes, it's shallow but what do you expect from a musical? The book is entertaining if a little bit cheesy on the beginning. I think it's a nice homage that teases you with her love life and then hooks you on the second part on Diana's achievements with the people: aids, cancer and land mines. Si if you loved Diana and like cheesy musicals, this is for you.
Supernatural: Carry On (2020)
Don't know why the bad reviews
Spoilers ahead! Finales tend to divide opinions I know but this was not the last episode of Lost by any means. They are loses, of course. It would feel cheap and lazy otherwise. I think it was very well written and in a bittersweet way, it was a happy ending. Beautifully done. Bravo and thanks for those 15 years.
Trespass (2011)
Worst.Movie.Ever.
The premise couldn't take you for more than 6 minutes, yet, the movie keeps going on and on and on. Somehow, Cage and Kidman manage to have even less chemistry than she and her then husband Tom Cruise on Eyes wide shut. Again to the lead actor, he makes look Jim Carrey as a not over the top actor AT ALL. Seriously I'll be hugely disappointed if this movie doesn't win all the raspberries of next year!
Stay away from this one, unless you are in the mood for a marathon of involuntary humor.
And yes, all the hyper bad reviews are more than justified, too bad I didn't come here before renting this one although, one should be suspicious about having two big names on a film and yet never heard about it before.
