Painkiller (2023)
All Lies
As someone who suffers from severe debilitating chronic pain, movies such as this are infuriating. Where are the movies about chronic pain patients who are denied medication because of the opiate hysteria. Where are the movies about chronic pain patients that are tapered down to doses that don't work. What about a movie about thousands of patience that have taken their own lives because no one would help them.
The truth is, you will never see them because they go against the agitprop narrative. With less than 4% of anyone who takes an opioid becoming addicted, these shows sensationalize a scenario that rarely happens. Dopesick is another show riddled with misinformation or worse, straight out lies.
When the CDC came out with their so called 2016 opioid guidelines, it forced millions of responsible adults who depend on opioids to live normal lives to either be force tapered down to levels that don't work or worse completely cut off. Then the DEA got involved and started arresting doctors for prescribing above those levels. Do some research, but not from PROP, the CDC, or any other government agency and you'll get the truth.
The Rookie (2018)
What Happened
This was a great show, then it turned into a man bashing nightmare. Even my wife said enough after the third season.
This went the way of the Chicago shows and none of them are watchable anymore. When I sit down to watch a show, I don't want to watch how someone thinks the world should be, I want to watch a show that promotes both men and women as we are. Maybe to some this is entertainment, but as a guy, I'd rather watch paint dry. This is why more and more men are tuning out and just focusing on sports or reruns of shows that were actually good.
I'm waiting for the day when the world isn't so insane and maybe TV will be good again. Cheers to hoping.
Ruthless (2023)
Yikes!
I'm not sure what people were thinking rating this anywhere close to a 10. As someone who wrestled for over 20 years, I understand the concept of a trained wrestler kicking the crap out of people twice their size. Those that never wrestled or maybe they did, but weren't good enough to win a State and/or National title, have no idea what a trained wrestler can really do to a person. So, that wasn't the problem. It was everything else.
No one in this movie can act, but the detective just looked ridiculous. I can't put my finger on it, wait maybe it was that he was overly well-dressed, had too much nice jewelry, and the whitest teeth of any detective I've ever seen. It just wasn't believable. In fact, I was waiting for him to be a dirty cop, but nope. The lead actor did a great job in the action scenes for an older guy like me, but the acting itself was horrendous. Then there's the teenage female wrestling character that was a complete train wreck. She couldn't act to save her life and honestly, she didn't connect with the audience. Maybe she should take a few acting classes and try again.
This was just bad!
Shrapnel (2023)
Take your time with him!
For a low budget film, this was pretty good. It reminds me of Rambo Last Blood, but with a better outcome and ending. It's not perfect by any means, but it's entertaining and the fight scenes are really well done. Yes, the story has been done before, but so has almost every story out there these days. The camera work was blurry at times as well, but not enough to interfere with the movie. I liked it for a B movie and would love to see more like this.
However, my biggest gripe with the movie was that some of the actors and actresses could have been better picked. The wife just didn't act very good and the brother of the cartel leader didn't exactly look like a tough man or scary. The scene with the wife in bed was painful to watch and the brother acting tough when attacking the house was too, but everything else was pretty good.
In the Name of the King: Two Worlds (2011)
Sad to watch this
First let me say, this movie had potential. Just like the one before it, which I thought was pretty good, the concept was there. The problem is Dolph Lundgren can barely walk, never mind swing a sword. The man is disabled and has no business playing an action hero at this point. It hurt me just watching him try to bend over to pick up the sword. Someone needs to tell him it's over. It's the humane thing to do.
With that being said, another problem is the special effects are absolutely horrible. The one positive is some of the supporting actors did a decent job, but not good enough to save the movie. It's to bad, a younger actor could have made this a decent flick.
