Bang (1995)
10/10
Funny, empowering and inspiring
14 April 2006
A down-and-out actress from L.A. gets evicted and arrested, then gets revenge on all those who wronged her. This film takes an improbable series of events and creates a bizarre yet plausible storyline.

It reminds me of John Schlesigner's "Billy Liar" - except that the protagonist in Bang! actually gets to play out her fantasies.

One of my all time favorites. It's a movie about crooked cops, individual rights, L.A., latinos, asians, unfortunate circumstance, women's rights, etc. There's much to say but I don't want to give it away and I can't submit a review unless it's at least ten lines long so stop reading this already and go watch Bang!

Funny not scary -- seems like a 1950's movie
21 November 2004
Maybe, just maybe, if you've seen too many 'hollywood' movies and you want to see something somewhat but not completely original (it pays homage to an older genre of horror movies from the US and Japan) then watch this.

The effects are very 1950s like so that makes it fun.

There are some nice shots of the city.

If you're in the mood for a good laugh it's worth it.

I had to check IMDb to see when this movie was filmed b/c I couldn't believe it was from 1982. Effects seem more Godzilla era than Star Wars era. I gave it 3 out of 10 stars. The only reason it is rated R is because of a lot of bad language, and one scene with nudity at the beginning.

Chilean brat-pack kids with problems. Good, but predictable.
17 January 2002
Some of the scenes in this movie were so well filmed that I could almost smell the sweet dry air of the hills around Santiago. This movie is about 4 spoiled kids in Santiago and their problems. Doesn't sound interesting, but it is a little deeper than that.

I liked the mix of English and Spanish in the movie, and the whole thing was very well produced. Great soundtrack - mix of Chilean hardcore and latino Rap. I wish I knew who was on the soundtrack - cause then I'd buy it!

In two words: Sweet + Funny.
