My current career is in human resources, and I have my Master's in that field from the University of Louisville.
While I may not be as directly involved in filmmaking as I would have liked, I do love cinema and the creativity it inspires. As of May 2020, I am trying to watch all of the current IMDb Top 250. I am less than seventy movies away from completing this!
My rating system goes as follows:
Positive - 6-10
Negative - 1-5
10 - Either a movie I have a personal connection with or what I consider to be a masterpiece. Perhaps it is both.
9 - Excellent.
8 - Great.
7 - Very good.
6 - Good.
5 - Adequate.
4 - Poor.
3 - Very poor.
2 - Terrible.
1 - A complete failure or severely lacking in areas to be considered "cinema."
You may notice in my ratings that I rarely give less than a five. I believe this is because there are traits that many movies have that either go unnoticed or forgotten due to the critical harshness of some viewers. I believe film is subjective, as is the the case with most creative art endeavors.
My ratings are not concrete. They are subject to change. I do not try to compare apples to oranges. If you see a film with a rating of an eight, that does not mean it is equal, above, or below another film rated as an eight. I believe they are individuals that I try not to compare with another film (no matter how similar the subject matter may be).

La città delle donne (1980)
Thought provoking and visually stunning
City of Women resembles the same attributes that make Federico Fellini a fantastic filmmaker - thought provoking ideas throughout the course of the narrative, visually stunning set pieces and imagery, and tall, almost epic, morality tales that center on humanity's greatest strengths and flaws. City of Women focuses on both men and women; but, it is regarding feminism from a male perspective. This touches on aspects regarding toxic masculinity, sexuality, gender equality, and the subconscious thoughts that make us wonder if we are really meant to have that perfect person. Honestly, as a man watching in 2021, this 1980s film really touches on a lot of aspects of the modern feminist movements of our time. Mastroianni is wonderful as Fellini's lead character. The narrative bobs and weaves, changing courses, much like the locations, focusing on different aspects of sexuality. To be honest, it is similar in some ways to Dante's Inferno. It seems we get deeper and deeper into the subsconscious with each passing section.
Similar in many ways to Fellini's other films, especially 8 1/2, City of Women is a yet another fine film by the auteur.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
A Work of Art, A rare find
Lord of the Rings' first installment, "Fellowship of the Ring" Wasn't just a movie, but a Work of Art. The Year 2001 had movies about Famous War Events, Dinosaurs, Apes, Mummies, and Creepers, Life Stories, and Novels into Book Films. Yet, out of all of them, Fellowship seemed to be the complete and utter best. Yes, some you might say Harry Potter I is the Best, but when you look back, which movie looked the best? I'm not going to get into a debate about that, so I'll move on. FOTR seemed perfect in everything, Characters, Plot, Script, Effects, etc. Its very rare to find a movie like this, the Emotion, humor, action, romance, and utter fear is all here. I recommend this to anyone, it might be 3 hours of Tolkien's classic book, but in movie form, its astounding, just like the book.
