Movie does not do the two leads justice.
9 January 2015
Don't get me wrong. I love the 2 leads. Lisa was the only reason I watched Friends when it first aired and I tune in any movie Mira appears in just to see her. There were a few things wrong with this movie.

First it is difficult to see these two as losers. They are both very attractive and their jobs are not all that bad. It's not like they are plain Janes that work as clerks in the 7-Eleven.

Second I did not find their old classmates all that offensive or uppity. It was just difficult to imagine the two as underdogs being degraded or the subjects of snobbery. These were the ingredients needed to make this movie work.

And last I did not find the material very funny. It was nothing more than typical sit com stuff.

Why did Varick leave the trunk open initially at the end ?.
26 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
At the end of the movie after he blew up Molly why did he leave the trunk open to the get away car while he was throwing bills and his clothing into the trunk of the blown up car? He was being cautious and looking around while he was doing this cover up yet he left the trunk of the get away car open with all the cash until he was done. It was nice to see Walter Mattheau going back to playing a gangster after his run as a comedy actor. And how about Sheri North before she became Kramer's mother. And Jac Scott of some old Outer Limit episodes. And Joe Don Baker as Molly being a little too tough, roughing up cripples, slapping women and insulting prostitutes.

And man, did you make a bad movie
4 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of Bob Hope's bad 60's comedy efforts. I found it to be nothing more than an over blown average sit-com episode. The first two thirds of the movie is him throwing out one liners at Elke Sommer, making wise cracks and exchanging barbs with Phylis Diller. The last third of the movie is nothing more than silly 60's slapstick and typical car chase fare. To those who found the movie kinky I saw it as no worse than any other bedroom farce for it's time. It's Bob playing the happy married middle class man with a pretty wife and kids getting into an atypical situation with a sexy woman. Now that's original. Now any movie with Elke Sommer can't be all that bad. So I vote 10 stars for her and minus 8 for the movie.

Almost Heroes (1998)

Almost Funny would be a better title for this movie.
12 May 2009
This movie was full of flat jokes and bad gags. Chris Farley tries but does not deliver very many laughs. Matthew Perry bringing his Chandler Bing character from Friends to the wilderness does not work. Even a few stabs at off the wall humor hardly produce a snicker. I kept waiting for this movie to get going but it just kept coming across like an over long comedy skit. Eugene Levy and Kevin Dunn were the only two characters that were funny. It was a shame there was not more for them to do. Making a comedy from a history lesson has it's possibilities but they blew any chance with this boring attempt. It was nothing more than SNL AND SCTV go to the woods.
