Girl 27 (2007)
10/10
An Incredible Film
18 October 2007
This is an incredible film, a powerful film, a love letter to someone who was deeply and tragically wronged. This is a film that shows how sadness, despair and actions can be carried down through the generations. It is also a film that shows that the system may try to destroy you but if you believe in yourself, the truth will come out somehow. This is a film that is moving in every way a film can be. David Stenn, the filmmaker has done a lot of good with his film. He has helped to change lives, bring closure, and allowed Patricia Douglas to feel that she is not alone in her struggles and regrets. An absolute must see. You won't regret it.

Grindhouse (2007)
10/10
It's Tarantino so maybe the order is rearranged?
14 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I'm really beginning to think the second half of Death Proof is prologue to the first half. My reasons are: 1. Mike has alcohol in his glove department when he says he does not drink much anymore in the first half. 2. His car in the second half is not death proof like his first car was in the opening half. Now, wouldn't you think he would if this was a linear narrative? Maybe he has learned from his prior mistakes? 3. Dawson kicks him straight down on his face, exactly where Mike's scar is revealed to be. I am thinking that because these three girls kicked his butt, Mike became refined, hardcore and started preying on girls who fit the physical description. It's just a thought. Also, one thing would have made Grindhouse be even better. After the end credits, show the girl that they left behind still sitting at the country house and have the redneck become a zombie. Since the two stories are connected anyway, lets really go for it. Cameron Cloutier www.bodianstfilms.com

Rose Red (2002)
So far, after two nights--this is quite a film
28 January 2002
The first two parts of Stephen King's Rose Red has now aired and so far it is quite a film. Using elements from Carrie, that was scrapped from Depalma's version for budgetary reasons, The Haunting by Robert Wise and Stephen King's all around wit, this is a film to be reckoned with. The commercial for the upcoming third part seems to promise to be extremely intense. If it weren't for the commercials breaking the mood every fifteen minutes, this would keep I'm sure much more on the edge of their seat. As is, this is the best ABC production since King and Garris' remake of The Shining, and of course, Twin Peaks. So far, everything is working. The performances are great in their classic horror way, the sets are fantastic, the special effects don't reek of cheese and the mood is creepy, foreboding. King's cameo is a classic in the way it is set up and delivered and his script is perhaps his best, in its depiction of detail. Some of it reminds me of the Winchester Mystery House which is near where I live. The dialogue is brilliant in the way the humor comes out of the characters instead of obligatory laughs to break the tension. All I can say is if the third part delivers as much as the first two hours, then this will be one of the great modern horror films. If not, well--four out of six hours is still way better than most films achieve. It's great to see Nancy Travis and Matt Kesslar given something to play, not to mention Judith Ivy. Thank you, Stephen King.
