Your Place or Mine (2023)
Watchable but not what I expected
I was eagerly awaiting this movie as I like both Reese and Ashton but it was quite a let-down. It was so boring, I fell asleep half-way through. As everybody before me has said, no chemistry no emotion which is the foundation of a rom-com. But tell me this, they are never together in any scene until the very last scene. Throughout the entire movie they only interact through phone across the country, so how does one display chemistry. It is the script that made the movie so boring. It could have been another Harry met Sally where long time friends discover the love after 20 years, but not here. And yes, Ashton does 'look' older, no more Michael Kelso sadly.
Wedding Season (2022)
simply adorable
Such a cute movie, thoroughly enjoyable. Both Suraj and Pallavi are naturals. The story line is tad old but the fresh performances and witty dialogues make up for it. Natalia Winkelman must not know Indian culture if she is turned off by the focus on "capitalistic success" because that is what Indian arranged marriages are all about. And can we please be done with the mean Indian Aunties, not all Aunties are all that bad. I must say that this is a first in which an actor born in India has perfect American accent and mannerisms. I had no idea that Suraj Sharma grew up in Delhi and Pallavi Sharda is from Australia. I always assumed that Suraj Sharma was a 2nd generation Indian living in America who assumed an Indian accent for Life of Pi like so many other American Indian actors. I had not seen Pallavi Sharda before and had no idea that she had tried her luck in Bollywood and got bullied. Love love love them both in this movie, can't stop watching it over and over.
