The Peripheral (2022)
Hooked me in then lost me
The first 4 episode were fantastic with a lot going for it. Then all of a sudden it felt like the writers ran out of ideas and just started writing pointless dialogue that did nothing for the plot.
By episode 5 I was already losing interest and the main character started to get really annoying.
Episode 6 and 7 went downhill fast with terrible acting and even worse script writing. It felt like they didn't know which direction to take the show so they just didn't take it anywhere.
Unbelievable character interactions, bad acting, poor character development, convoluted plot designed to waste airtime.
There are plenty of better things to watch.
Catherine Called Birdy (2022)
Entertaining even though I'm not the target audience
I was only checking this out to see if Bella Ramsey was the right choice for the upcoming The Last of Us and I was surprised it was pretty funny in parts.
The target audience is clearly younger women, but I found it pretty funny even though it was a ridiculous plot. The acting is really what carried it as the entire cast are all strong actors.
Would I recommend it for younger people?
I would say yes, because it was entertaining with solid acting. I enjoyed the sarcasm.
Would I recommend it for older people?
It's not a serious drama, more of a comedy/drama. So if you can ignore all the plot holes you'll have fun.
House of the Dragon (2022)
Just when it was getting interesting, episode 6 switched the actors
The story is very slow and was just getting going then came episode six. Suddenly they jump ahead 10 years with different actors and the new ones are terrible. I don't know what they were thinking.
All the old plot lines are gone. On top of that writers thought it was a good idea to make the script completely confusing. Feels like you wasted your time on the first 5 episodes as they didn't serve any purpose to the story.
Anyways, I don't know what else to say. It was starting to grow on me then they ruined it. The new actors are terrible compared to the original actresses.
I'm done with this series.
The Swearing Jar (2022)
Wasn't expecting much from this one, but WOW!
Went in expecting a generic movie and came away being blown away. The acting and cinematography is above the majority of movies out there and the script makes it very believable.
I've never lived through a situation like the one that is portrayed in the movie, but if you have I can just imagine how hard hitting this film is.
It's not happy, sad or funny, it's just about life. I highly recommend it.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Very expensive sets but B grade script and acting
Honestly some of the scenes look amazing, but that's pretty much the only positive thing I can say about this.
The script writing is below a B grade made for TV movie and the acting has some serious cringe moments. It's not even one off moments either, every 5 - 10 minutes you know a cringe moment is coming.
They put the actors in the middle of what looks like a very expensive backdrop scene, then they ruin it by saying something that is completely ridiculous and out of place.
I don't know if they had a complete breakdown in their script team or what. If you're going to spend this amount of money on production at least hire some decent writers.
At the end of the day this series will be forgotten and never watched again. Don't waste your time, watch something else.
The Resort (2022)
Boring and never went anywhere
Not sure how this receives such high ratings. There wasn't anything creative about it, they just picked random events and slapped them together in a vaguely cognitive plot.
Nothing made sense, massive plot holes, mediocre acting. 80% of what happened served no purpose to develop the plot or carry the story, it was literally just there to fill time.
You could tell the writers didn't know how to tie all these random events together so they just wrapped it up quickly in an ending that wasn't satisfying, didn't answer any questions and again served no purpose.
Don't waste your time, just watch something else.
