Almost had to turn it off
12 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
These people killed her. At the end, they were moving her from bathtub to shower knowing she was dying. She was literally blue. And when she died, it seemed like they were playing with the corpse. They were also filming it, and taking pictures and the entire time. This is inconceivable, I understand people are insane, but you, as a human should know what death looks like. It is natural for a corpse to be revolting to a human. I just can't believe people could think and do these things out of pure ignorance or insanity and honestly they should have been charged with desecration of a corpse or something similar . A lot of the people who join the cult were broken, that plays a lot into the minds of someone who can do this.

Overall it was a good documentary, Im just disgusted at the cult members.

People like this movie?

This was such an egregiously annoying movie caused primarily by one group of characters that (1) Freaked out and panicked at every single adversity (2) showed no sense of agency but more so sense of entitlement (3) were so insufferable that one of the characters had to literally learn humility during an apocalypse. Sorry but it shouldn't take the world ending for you to care about someone else and the others characters should not be placed there for YOU to learn empathy. Everything else was very interesting, however I had to roll my eyes so many times at the behavior of certain characters. Don't understand why they had to be so insufferable! The story was sound without creating them that way.

Awful Writing and Unrealistic depictions of addiction
27 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Hated this movie for it's unrealistic nature and awful writing. It is unfathomable that NYC would simply run out of drugs so that the addicts would have to travel to Miami. Also, having a drug in your system in not illegal, so the arrests of Leto and Wayan's characters would not have happened. Connelly's character could have gotten money from her parents if she wasn't stubborn and avoided that entire traumatic event. Also, "uppers" which I assume are Adderall that Ellen Burstyn's character was taking won't make you go insane. Yes you can get addicted, but what she went through looked a lot more like Meth or Heroine.

I get that this movie is a good tale about the dangers of addiction. But all in all it is not a good movie. It's sad and bleak for no reason and I think the positive ratings are mostly based on nostalgia.
