La La Land (2016)
So much hype so little substance
So, as far as I can tell, This is the story of 2 talented people who had a relationship that didn't work out but they still have a fondness for each other.... ? The best part of this movie is when the little girl, Mia's daughter, breaks the 4th wall to give a "thunb's up" to someone off camera. That kind off sums up this movie: it's not a comedy, it's not a love story and it's not a musical. You can say well this guy played a piano in it, and they sang and did some dancing, but what was the end dynamic? Sometimes you have to give up on your happy ending to achieve your dreams... wow! What a feelgood takeaway... not.
Also I would not have even watched this if it had not been mistakenly made famous by being announced as the winner of an award it did not actually win.
This Is the End (2013)
Seth Rogan can only play one guy - truth
So they took a load of male low-grade actors who had no work and said HEY lets just make movie about them and see how it goes... it went bad like milk left on the porch in Texas in August
Dont even bother.
Its not funny, its not intriguing, it has no real plot, there are no highlights, the best thing that can be said is its a guy movie, for guys with lots of other people making cameos because why not, and it's not like you could ruin it.... because what is there to ruin?
It seems to be rated higher by some people who like the endless swearing and non-pc humor I guess but honestly I do not think I have ever seen a Seth Rogan movie worth watching and this one was worse than many others...
No spoilers because it cant be spoiled more than it is.
The Sandman (2022)
Was so looking forward to this..
It started so well...
Dream was great, exactly how I imagined him in the stories and graphic novel, especially how he talked.
But then...
Constantine as a woman???
Lucifer as a woman???
I feel that if the TV show actors had been in this it would have been epic!
And what about...
Death was a absolutely perfect except for 2 things:
1: she is supposed to be goth - where is her iconic face art???
2: and... No "Death" with a teddy bear? ... :( LAME
and finally
Not enough attention was paid to the Corinthians eyes, the episode with John Dee was not scary enough, and overall the series was not dark enough.
I really liked it overall, for what it was, definitely one of the better additions to Netflix.
The Watch (2020)
I have read the books and still loved this
I loved Sam Vimes, the tiny Angua and Cheery was awesome. I did not like the way Lady Sybil Ramkin is portrayed and I definately do not remember her being a fighter...
I am so disappointed to learn this has not been picked up for another series. I really enjoyed this - and I am very hard to please. These may be nothing like the books, but since I read them probably 30+ years ago I cannot remember them word for word but I know the premis works and it is definitely better than ALOT of other shows out there. Now let me go go leave a mention on the Sandman about not seeing "Death" with a teddy bear...
