Succession: Connor's Wedding (2023)
What a raw portray of life
I love how there's no buildup. There's no special last words, no closure between the siblings and their father, not enough time to react. One group on air, the other on water, both unable to reach each other in time, relying on phones to say their finals goodbyes. There's no amount of money that can save them, the same way Logan did with Kendall in season 1.
It's unpredictable, because it's predictable. Logan is sick, the audience has known in since the first episode. But still, he somehow always makes it out alive, so why wouldn't this be any different? Well, it is, because sometimes life just doesn't work your way.
Death most times doesn't have a warning, the same it does in shows. You can be on top of the world -literally on the sky- and then six feet under.
I loved how shocking it is, and everyone's acting is just sublime. Along with the camera work, it makes you feel like you're a part of the family, watching everything unfold in disbelief.
Kudos especially to Sarah Snook, because one simple "daddy" made me tear up.
This is going down in history as one of the best episodes ever.
Daredevil: A Cold Day in Hell's Kitchen (2016)
How ironic that DareDevil is the worst part of DareDevil
The season as a whole? Good. Cool storylines, good fighting scenes, phenomenal acting from everyone in the main cast. Still, I find it quite funny -or rather quite sad- how Matt in season 2 is the worst part of DareDevil. His storyline is confusing and doesn't find a proper way until we're too into the season to the point some probably don't even care. His actions are stupid (which usually I don't mind -I like flawed characters) in a way that feel out of character to him; his morals, which are great for character built, make him predictable -after one season (or even a few episodes), you know what he does and how he operates, there's no surprise awaiting whenever he's on screen like it happens with the rest of the characters. His on and off with both Foggy and Karen, his toxic relationship with Elektra and Stick... not handled properly, and felt rushed.
The best thing about this season, and the only thing that saves it, is the storyline of the Punisher, and Karen's great and realistic character growth.
Overall disappointing after a great first season.
