Work It Out Wombats! (2023)
Another triumph by PBS Kids!
Yet, PBS Kids knocked it out of the park once again with another beautifully animated series about teamwork, family, with a touch of sitcom hallmarks.
"Work It Out Wombats!" tells the tale of three wombat siblings, Malik, Zadie, and Zeke as they navigate through everyday life and learn about problem solving skills during their everyday routines all while living with their Grandma Super, portrayed by the talented Yanna McIntosh who you may have known from "Harry Potter and The Cursed Child". In each episode, the Wombat kids encounter a problem and must put their heads together to come up with fun and educational solutions to work out the situation.
With an incredible cast of young actors of Mia SwamiNathan, Ian Ho, and Rain Janjua, they portrayed a colorful group of young role models for young people to guide them of what teamwork, family, and friendship is all about. And with incredible writers from other shows such as "Martha Speaks" and "Animaniacs (1993)", they wrote beautiful unique slice-of-life stories so that no two episodes of "Work It Out Wombats" are the same. And of course, the music is what brought this entertaining gem full circle. The bubblegum pop and hip-hop rap is bound to get kids singing along and dancing.
All In all, with "Work It Out Wombats!" PBS Kids once again delivered a beautiful entertaining show about friendship, family, and teamwork that is a must watch for all.
Bluey (2018)
A special hidden gem with a magical world!
That's how I described this show in eight words. After Amphibia wrapped up in May of 2022, I tried to find another show to enjoy. That's when Bluey comes in the game. After hearing many people talk about it and how crazy it was, I decided to give it a try.
"Camping" was the first episode of Bluey I ever watched and I never would have thought that Bluey's world was so immersive, from the minute Bluey met Jean-Luc. When the episode ended with that epic flash-forward reunion, I had too many words to describe how beautiful the show was from beginning to end.
When I saw there are more episodes before and after "Camping", I was in for one heck of a ride. And what a ride it was! From here on out, I was forever honored to be an honorary Heeler family member that follows Bluey's footsteps as she learns about her world and how it's always changing as Bluey faces the challenges of growing up.
Everyone on the Bluey team knocked it out of the park for every episode, from the sound team, to the music team, and to the talented voice cast that lends their voice to the characters that makes the magic of Bluey come to life.
The show has a very well done message about how the world changes every day and everyone has to learn how to move on with their lives and make a difference. Each episode also has a perfect balance of playtime or serious issues.
What makes Bluey so special is that it not only has a perfect balance of comedy and drama, but also gives an honest look of what family life, parenthood, and growing up is all about. Bluey is always there to take a little bit of pain away from me or put a smile on my face.
If you are looking for a show that delivers powerful messages through light-hearted and well-written storylines, Bluey's for you.
For real life? For real life.
Rock on, Bluey Heeler! :)
