Euphoria: Fuck Anyone Who's Not a Sea Blob (2021)
EPH FBL REVIEW
(8.0) I was a real fan of the previous special episode. It added so much to the series as a whole, and it was led by a pair of great actors. In this case, there's only Hunter to lead the episode. Don't get me wrong, she does a great job, and truly makes you feel what she's feeling. But the fact it's only her and her therapist, makes it more of an introspective episode without much direction. Yes, it serves as great development for Jules, but it overstays its welcome. I would have liked it more with 15 minutes less, but it still was enjoyable to watch. Mainly because of the attachment you might have after watching the first season. At the end of the day, it serves as a great standout for the Jules character, giving insight into the way she is and why she acts the way she does, but in terms of pacing is quite lacking if not detrimental to the episode.
Euphoria: Trouble Don't Last Always (2020)
EPH TRB REVIEW
(9.5)
The first special episode was such a surprise. I didn't know what to expect, as it was rather weird the two extra episodes they made before releasing season two. But what an incredible surprise it was. I shouldn't be so surprised, really, I loved the first season. But this felt so different, but the same at the same time. Both Zendaya and Domingo give everything they have got in this episode, talking about life's greatest challenges. And you know what, it doesn't get too introspective or philosophical as you would think. Yes, there's a lot to digest, but it's clearly accessible to everyone, making the audience feel represented in the episode. The dialogue is superb, it goes from topic to topic without feeling rushed or overstaying its welcome. Apart from the great questions like what is God and what is addiction, there's a part of the dialogue I loved for so many reasons. It's the part where Zendaya recalls events from the first season, but from another perspective. Like, in the first season, it is shown her and Jules get matching tattoos, but here she says they didn't do it. With this and other hints, it shows Rue as an unreliable narrator, which makes me come back to the first season with a new perspective. And it doesn't really come from nothing, it's totally understandable how a drug addict can be an unreliable narrator. In conclusion, they ended up making a great special episode just with two people and a story to tell, which is as impressive as they come.

EPH REVIEW
(S01 - 9.0)
This show made a big splash when it came out. It was called porn and numerous other things, but I am glad I didn't listen. To address the elephant in the room, yes, it has a lot of graphic nudity and sex scenes like no other series. But let's not pretend it doesn't help us understand the characters more, and their motivations. You know how powerful it is when you see the most intimate details of a relationship? You understand its dynamics from a point of view we don't really see. This show is brave enough to show us what no one wants to show us, and making us feel more in the process. And it is surprisingly well-handled, taking into account there are heavy themes dealt with here. It's not an easy task to develop drug addiction, rape and self-discovery through a sexual awakening in the same show. Yes, it is sometimes very self-indulgent when it comes down to explaining a character's backstory, and some scenes are dragged out more than they should be. But strike me now if it is not carried by spectacular cinematography. Like, this show looks great. Not only the cinematography, but the editing is top-notch. Every episode, you will have unique and mind-blowing shots that are unheard of for a TV show. And don't get me starting on the acting, mind-blowing performances all around. Every character is unique, and the ensemble feel like real people that are really going through the things their characters are going through. To end, feel free to not watch this show if very explicit content is not your thing. But if you give it a try, you will feel things you have never felt before from a TV show, and it will look beautiful as you feel it.
How to Get Away with Murder (2014)
HGM REVIEW
(S01 - 8.5)
I have already watched this series. However, I decided to take a tour through memory lane to truly dissect the series after knowing how everything ends. And boy, this first season doesn't disappoint. Being the first season, the introduction to all the characters is splendid, you grow attached to them rather quickly as the legal cases progress. The clear standout is Viola Davis, who is a powerhouse in the lead role. But I also have to mention the rest of the cast, as they also give great performances and have great chemistry together. As for the story, it's addictive as hell. The flash forwards in every episode raise the tension more and more, until episode 9, where you learn the truth about what happened. Because of this, in my opinion, the season loses its steam until it completes its 15 episode run. The finale still has a couple of surprising twists, but the watch time between this and episode nine is totally carried by the legal drama and an outstanding guest performance by Cicely Tyson. I may have some nitpicks about this season, but overall it's a tense and thrilling rollercoaster of emotions that doesn't let you go until you've seen it all.
(S02 - 9.0)
How did they make an even better season than the first? Well, firstly, they introduced more players to the big moment this time around. There are more substantial flash forwards than last time, which makes the guessing game of who died and how all the more entertaining. The acting, like the first season, is brilliant. But I would like to give more credit to the actors in this season, because they are all given so much more depth and complexity to their characters, and they perfectly add them to well-established and already liked characters. It is true that the legal drama is a little pushed aside by all the character moments and drama, but I wouldn't say this is bad. To the contrary, the shift to the drama is well-executed. The only nitpick about this season I would have is not like last time, as the second half of this season does it better for me, in maintaining the tension and thrills. The nitpick is that the flashbacks, even if they are well-thought-out and as thrilling as the main storyline, its additions kind of feels odd at the beginning. But it ends up finding its footing, leading to a sort of cliffhanger ending, but not a bad one. It resolves some plot threads while introducing some to come, and it does it with great plot twists, as always. In my opinion, they really upped the quality with this season, as they are able to create a thrilling and fulfilling season of television while leaving great things for the future, and never making the audience they have been robbed of payoff.
(S03 - 8.0)
So, this was kind of a disappointment. After the terrific second season, I was expecting so much from this one. But at the end of the day, they slowed everything down. My main complaint is that the only driving force of this season is the big death, that looms over for the 15 episodes. But apart from that, the rest of the series lacks the urgency or the thrills that were characteristic of previous seasons. The main death has a great impact, the biggest death to this point. It is felt through every character interaction and character action after the reveal in episode 9. It is well-handled, but it ends up feeling like it's there to give power to a season that lacks in plot, so they used a bigger death to be able to extend the runtime without feeling like filler. The acting is still incredible, and you may argue it gets better after every season. Overall, there are still great character moments, like Frank's season arc where he seeks redemption from Annalise or Laurel's grief through the death of a loved one. But at the end of the day, it feels like it's just repeating itself: begin with some legal drama (even less this season), have a major death reveal in the middle, and deal with the consequences of everything ath the very end of the season. It's still entertaining, sure, but it's starting to feel like they are just repeating the same beats. In conclusion, it's still a season I would recommend to someone that has enjoyed the last two, but they really need to step up their game, so it feels fresh again.
(S04 - 7.5)
Here we go again. So, I did really think they could come back to the quality of the first couple of seasons. The tight episodes, with not enough room to breath. But I was a little bit wrong. There are different arcs throughout this season, four in particular. The most excellent for me was the one with Laurel's family and the ins and outs of the custody. It was really tense, and seeing the dynamics of her parents with both present actions and past actions is great and thrilling. Next, for me, is the arc with Jimmy Smits and his self-destructive relationship with Davis' Annalise. From the beginning you can see it's not going to end well, but they can't stay away from each other. In third, we have the Supreme Court arc. Don't get me wrong, it gets me the chills every time, but it doesn't seem to fit within this show. It carries an energy that is not familiar with this show, in my opinion. Coming in last is the Caplan and Gold arc, which is quite annoying for me. After everything they have gone through, most of the characters are dumb enough to go running around and getting themselves into trouble. I had a hard time rooting for them knowing it would end badly, and that just makes the whole plan and execution feel pointless and more of an inconvenience to watch. In conclusion, this season deals with a lot of arcs, over saturating the whole season and making it chaotic. There are great ideas underneath it all, but the sum of the parts is quite disappointing.
(S05 - 7.0)
I truly felt another way when I first watched this series. But there's no denying the show is in a clear decline at this point. The characters are still fun to watch, even if their interactions become more forgettable than ever. And the acting is stellar, even if the material they are given is inconsistent, they never miss. However, the writing is a real problem this season. The wedding is a good setting for the main mystery, but at the end of the day, what ended up happening wasn't that big of a deal. They killed off a new character, which made the whole impact of the moment less of a thing. After all, our main characters are faced with little progression and it hurts the show. Gabriel, another new character, is truly irrelevant and not a cohesive addition to the show. His storyline took too much of the runtime of the season. After this and the previous season, I feel they end up being more and more forgettable. With the first couple seasons, every episode had a meaning and some bang, but right now, after just watching, I'm having trouble remembering certain plot elements. In conclusion, the acting is still worth watching if you are a fan of this show, but in reality there's a clear steep in quality.
(S06 - 8.5)
It's my first time ever watching this season, and I got to be honest, it surprised me. Mainly because of how the last seasons were going, but it was still a surprise. Firstly, Laurel's absence from the season is not well-handled. There's a clear void from the show dynamics that is clearly missing, like it was a last minute change. Moreover, the problems I had with the previous seasons are still here, as there is a lot of filler in my opinion. But wow, they handled the ending of the show beautifully. Better than I expected. There's a sense of conclusion in the air, specifically in the last episodes. And even after 6 seasons, they can still have incredible plot twists, the best ones since season three. And I have to admit, after watching the series in one go, the ending hit harder, mainly because of some deaths that happened in it. The last episode and episode nine are great, I would put them in my top 10 episodes of this series. Specifically the ninth, which has the best last 10 minutes of all the series. A whole rollercoaster, truly unique. For one last time, I would like to say how good the acting is. They all take power in every scene they are in, it's incredible. I will miss these characters. After all their ups and downs, I'm sad to see them go. But the last season was a true surprise, and I think is worth it for anyone who has enjoyed this show at some point to reach the end. It will not disappoint.
