Proof that meaning is dead
11 February 2023
Is there not enough chaos in the world without subjecting movie audiences to this kind of jumbled tripe? Apparently it is now chic and intellectually heroic to make a story nearly unintelligible, thereby proving one's belongingness into Hollywood weirdness. The timeline of the story is cut and pasted into a kaleidoscope of utter nonsense. Enough of this deconstructed reality. I suppose we will never see a straightforward story again from this team. Yes, if you give it enough time, assuming you have enough time, the story might make some sense. Like Godot, you will have to wait a very long, long time.

All you need to know: Alec "The Shootist" Baldwin is featured.

One of the meanest, most arrogant actors in Hollywood is Smart Alec Baldwin who plays a priest in this film. Talking about a stretch, this is like Woody Allen playing a Navy Seal. The film is a gangster movie set in the emerald isle of Ireland, where leprechauns dancing in the moonlight would be appropriate. Remember as you watch this flick, "This is Just a Movie," because you might get carried away by the superb acting and actually believe this all really happened.

Gangsters wearing animal masks and, oh, yes, the innocent and beguiling daughter of a mobster by the name of Pixie holds the entire narrative together as only a film featuring Alec Baldwin can do.

Boring. Tension because it doesn't move on.

Tedious. Takes place in a studio with no other scenery. Makes no sense. Doesn't add up. Acting is all at 150 mph with no release. Everything is going to blow up with no reason. Crazy and worthless film. From start to end the plot makes no sense and the acting is all at the same intensity with no contrasting relief.

I stopped watching this tedious film about ¾ way through because nothing was changing and there was no resolution of the tension.

No name actors, probably because no one wanted to ruin their career with this drivel. Do not waste your time sitting there waiting for something to make sense.

Nicely filmed, beautiful scenery

Beautifully filmed in Scotland, Paris and Montreal. Well acted. Storyline a bit confusing although the main theme is unrequited love. I think I've seen Scacci in other films but just can't remember which. She is a good actress but little known. D'Onofrio employs a good Scottish accent. D'Onofrio handles this role with a light touch, but he is known for offbeat characters in TV dramas. Sometimes hard to understand the dialogue. Impressive musical score. Reminds us that many young loves are tossed aside because of convention, but come back to remind us we should have followed our original instincts.
