You Were Never Lovelier (1942)
The Incredible balance in between perfect romance and a touch of humor
How I did fall in love with this movie? I guess just because the "subtile" touch of humor brings by Astaire's funny face and definitely by the absolute charm of Rita Hayworth.
Just listening to her "understand" from "I'm Old-fashion" scene is, for a non-English mother tongue speaker like me, a vibrating experience. Just try it, don't think, just drink the essence of this movie - it should be your fresh moment of the day. And what about the THE dance? Just perfect, not only synchronized, which is the normal case for Astaire, but also harmonized, which gives Astaire / Hayworth the title of "glamorouth"
Now the last question: Was Astaire in love of Hayworth? I agree with Leslie Caron: Definitely yes, it is so visible when you watch the "I'm old fashion" scene. I let you judge....
