The Atheist Delusion (2016)
Poorly researched and full of misunderstanding
The "movie" is quite clearly propaganda. It's poorly researched and shows very strongly that Ray Comfort doesn't understand evolution. His rebuttal of evolution is a nonsensical straw man showing literally no understanding of how it works. Bizarre questions about partial chickens not having evolved blood or an eye yet "How would they live?" like evolution starts out with a goal and tries to fill in pieces with animals made of chunks of what they will eventually be, failing at life due to being incomplete. It's ridiculous.
It's old fashioned asking old and previously thoroughly answered questions as if they are groundbreaking new ideas.
The whole thing reeks of lack of knowledge. He's basically ignoring what science actually has to say and making up arguments that can obviously be knocked flat because of how idiotic they are.
If you have a Teflon brain that's immune to facts and a hankering to feel cosy and smug this film is perfect for you.
For everyone else it's a manipulative travesty of lies where knowledge has died and the most verbal patient is running the asylum.
Post Impact (2004)
Mediocre at best.
What a shame. This film had an interesting story and with the right casting and some re-writing to fix it up a bit it could have been worth watching. Instead it was disappointing. They've thrown away a plot by having a half hearted crack at it.
I'm guessing it needed a bigger budget to get the effects right and a better cast but even with the actors they had they could have done a better job.
Parts of the film seem rushed while other parts take too long. It didn't feel like it flowed well and could have done with being cut together differently with some re-shooting to fix awkward scenes.
Super Cyclone (2012)
What a shame...
I watched this movie because I like Ming-Na Wen. I've seen her in several TV shows where she did well. That's it, that's the end of what is good about this movie. I'm about to go and blow torch my retinas for watching this movie. It starts out awful but gets worse. Most of the cast would look bad in a village hall production so how they made it onto a film set is anyone's guess. Maybe they just opened up the studio hung a sign that said "free doughnuts" and cast whoever walked in?
I need 10 lines of text for this to be a review so I will have to say more. That's more thought than I wanted to waste on this movie.
The physical acting is laughable, people swaying the opposite way to the camera ruining the "we're being shaken about" effect and then magically not being effected by physics as soon as they have a line to say. The pauses and facial expression that are supposed to convey something about what's being said are so bad and mistimed I would swear these people are aliens doing their best "honest we are humans" impressions.
I think Nicholas Turturro and Mitch Lerner must have had a side bet going on who can make their part the most ridiculously bad without getting fired.
Path of Destruction (2005)
On the nose
Most of what I was going to say has already been covered repeatedly. I just had to add the on the nose scenes were too much to bear. For example, a dad trying to get his two sons into nature while they ignored him and played computer games. Seriously you just plonked that there like that without even trying? "Hey we need a hackneyed cliché for this scene do we have any of those in stock?" Lets not try to set a scene, lets just straight up tell the viewer like we're the narrator in a kids play.
The bad acting, slow deliberate actions and blurting stuff out, it was a waste of time that only Danica made bearable.
The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005)
Seriously?
If I told you this was a low budget, straight to obscure cable channel, knock off of a crow film you would probably believe me. If you told me it was a genuine "Crow" film I would laugh and call you a liar...and you would be right and I would be wrong and that just is insane.
Why did they even bother? They have some famous names here that apparently were paid just enough for them to actually turn up and "phone in" a performance. I've seen nativity plays with better performances.
Edward Furlong as the crow? His "angry" face and lines through gritted teeth were unconvincing, absolutely no fear or sense that this guy was about to kick ass was purveyed. I couldn't believe how bland and whiny his crow was. He was the wrong choice, his stature, boyish looks, and poor acting skills made him look like an annoyed teenager pestering people.
With the cast this had and the performances I've seen them give elsewhere this was just shameful. Maybe they had a bad script, or no direction, or everyone had the flu? but these people know better than this.
The attempts to define the characters of War, Famine, and Pestilence were worse than a B movie horror flick made by film students.
If you love the crow as a character don't watch this...it ruins it. If you don't or don't yet, still don't watch this as you never will from this performance.
