A Scanner Darkly (2006)
An underrated gem
I stumbled across this movie and it looked interesting, but nevertheless this movie did not disappoint me. The animation is stunning and unique, the storyline is intriguing and the characters are relatable. Furthermore, this movie was a good interpretation of the classic novel by Philip K. Dick, and it still holds up well to this very day. This is a movie that feels like it faded into obscurity and became forgotten in the animation genre, but nonetheless this was a movie that was unique and was definately worth the watch but not a movie for everyone since it does involve drugs and nudity, sexual scenes.
Waking Life (2001)
Underrated and worth a watch
This is a fairly obscure movie and one that feels it will become forgotten, but this is a movie struck me as unique when I first watched it. The animation and visual effects are weird and a bit trippy but it has fanatastic, writing, good dialogue and interesting perpsectives and philosophies of life. Furthermore, this is a movie makes you question your existence and the meaning of life. The characters also feel geniune and relatable. This is not a must watch movie by any means and it definitely has it's flaws, but this is a good movie and one that won't disappoint you if you decide to watch it.
Goosebumps (2015)
Good, but could've been better
This was a fun movie and a good time. The comedy aspect of it seemed unusual for a Goosebumps movie but it still had me laughing on some scenes. It did have a good build up and climax, however, a few complaints. The storyline felt too rushed and there was a lot of Goosebumps entities coming on screen for a few seconds to a few minutes without giving us much introduction. I also felt the CGI didn't blend well with the live action. Also, I felt this movie deviated from the Goosebumps movie and books. I think this movie could've worked better as an anthology film than a horror comedy movie. Nonethless it was still worth the watch and one that I enjoyed.
Timid Tabby (1957)
Very good episode
Although the animation in this episode isn't the best and could have been better this episode stands out to me as one of the best because it is one of the few episodes where Tom actually outwits and wins against Jerry. His cousin George comes to visit (voiced by Bill Thompson) and he is scared of mice. Jerry keeps scaring George and Jerry tries to scare Tom because Jerry thinks he is George but Tom ends up hitting him. At the end George and Tom both turn into a monster and scare Jerry into running away to an asylum. This is one of the best episodes in my opinion and they should've made more like this.
Drake & Josh (2004)
Fantastic Show
Drake and Josh in my opinion was the best sitcom on nickolodeon and one of the best sitcoms in general outpacing Victorious and even ICarly. Every episode has a different kind of humor to it that is not replicated in other shows. Drake and Josh are relatable characters as it's common for siblings to fight/argue in real life, but Drake and Josh still help each other out with problems that they have such as with relationships or school.
There are some heartwarming moments between them like when Drake had to get a little sibling so he wouldn't have to go back to remedial english but faked being sick so Josh would hang out with him because the little sibling was more important to Josh than Drake, then Josh got him out of remedial english. Drake even once got Josh tickets to see Oprah for his birthday, and threw him a suprise party at the priemere. There are also many hilarious episodes where Drake and Josh get into a bad situation caused by Drake, such as when they were stuck in a treehouse or when their car broke down when they had to get to a wedding. There was also another episode when the two were put in a steered straight program where they were arrested but ended up being with a real criminal. Another good episode was when they won free skydiving lessons but they were stuck on a helicopter by themselves. Megan also played good the role of an evil little step sister, and some of her pranks went too far on Drake and Josh but they were still pretty funny.
There were so many other good episodes of this show but overall this was a very good and enjoyable series that ended too soon. I have watched every episode 10 times and they never get old.
Chicken Little (2005)
Meh.... Could've been worse
This movie was so mediocre that even disney ignores it's existence. This movie is barely remembered and for good reason. The storyline and characters are unoriginal and the animation is sub par, not to mention the constant bullying and harrassment of chicken little over a misunderstanding made me dislike the townsfolk and made this movie feel mean spirited. Even Chicken Little's dad was terrible and didn't redeem himself. However, this movie isn't terrible. It wasn't exactly boring, with quite a few action packed scenes and character growth from Chicken Little and his friends. Not anywhere near one of disney's best movies, but it definitely isn't the worst.
Sausage Party (2016)
Hilarious
This was honestly one of the funniest movies I've watched in a long time. Sure, the humor is vulgar and crude, it has a lot of sexual jokes and innuendos and it is definitely a movie for mature audiences, but it was a very enjoyable movie and one that is fun to watch. If you don't like vulgar and raunchy humor this movie isn't for you but if you do then this movie will be very funny and enjoyable for you to watch. The scenes where the grocery items and the humans interact were funny and some characters were downright hilarious...... Maybe not a must watch but one that is worthba watch if you don't know what else to watch.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
A fun movie to watch
This movie is not fantastic like I was hoping it to be, but it definitely didn't disappoint me. First of all, I must say the animation in this movie is spectacular and one of the best I've seen in a while. The relationship between Mario and Luigi and Mario and Princess Peach was heartwarming. I like how they stuck to the theme of Mario and kept the designs and character traits of each character, but some things felt missing. One, I hoped thry would include all characters from Mario such as Wario, Waluigi and Diddy Kong. Also felt like they could've stretched this movie out longer so it could have more action scenes. But it is 90 minutes in length which is a good length for movies. It was also fast paced and doesn't bore the viewers. Overall, while this movie has flaws it is an enjoyable movie to watch and is definitely worth the watch.
Ben 10 (2016)
No, Just No!
Cartoon Network basically gave Ben 10 the Teen Titans Go! Treatment by making this absolutely terrible reboot. This doesn't even feel like a Ben 10 show. They should've at least kept the original voice cast and improved the animation. The voices are annoying and the animation is dreadful. This show is a disgrace to the Ben 10 franchise. The first 3 Ben shows were good but the original one is ny favourite, mostly because it had action, thrill, an engaging storyline and lighthearted humor. None of that is present in this show. I am not a fan of reboots and remakes in general but this one is just lazy and not well thought out.
Aliens in the Attic (2009)
Pretty entertaining
I have to admit when I first looked at the movie it didn't look good, but after watching it it wasnt that bad. It is enjoyable enough with an interesting enough plot. While it is pretty cheesy, silly and predictable there are some pretty funny scenes especially when the aliens and the kids were controlling their sister's boyfriend. But I found the kids to be kind of annoying in some parts and the relationship between the sister and her boyfriend to be cringy. Not to mention the CGI with the aliens could've been better. Definitely not a must watch film, but it is a fun family movie to watch or one to watch by yourself or with your friends.
Tweety's High-Flying Adventure (2000)
Could've been worse
I have to admit, while this movie has bland animation and plotholes, I found this movie somewhat enjoyable. It is a breath of fresh air for Tweety to have his own movie when usually it's Bugs or Daffy that has their own movie. The songs were pretty good, the relationship between Tweety and Awoogah was surprisingly heartwarming, and Sylvester's determination to catch Tweety and the difficulties that came were amusing. The biggest flaw of this movie is that Tweety's adventures felt too rushed from going to Paris, Rome, Egypt, Tibet and to Australia all in less than 80 days and somehow getting the paw prints from all those cats which doesn't seem feasible. It also baffles me how Sylvester could be in all those places and knew where Tweety was going at all times. It also felt like the characters didn't get any development or enough screentime. One character comes and the other goes, like with Taz and Sam. Overall, this is a forgotten Looney Tunes movie that is enjoyable for certain audiences.
Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003)
Decent
I have to admit, I enjoyed this movie despite not hearing very good reviews about it. This was a really fun movie, had clever references like finding Nemo, Batman and Scooby-Doo. They also featured songs from Elvis Presley and even Michael Buble. Brendan Fraser, Steve Martin and Bill Goldberg's characters were brilliant, and I really liked Heather Graham's character. But my favourite scenes were the fight scenes such as in the casino and when Bugs and Daffy fought Marvin The Martian. Overall, this movie is essentially if Looney Tunes met James Bond, and Steve Martin's character feels a bit like Dr Evil.
Gravity Falls (2012)
Definitely a must watch
This is a damn near flawless show. It has stunning animation, excellent voice acting, stellar storyline, funny and memorable characters and it has a perfect mix of mystery and sci fi. The jokes are also clever and original, and it has some humor not intended for children, but both children and adults can enjoy it. This show also doesn't overstay it's welcome like many cartoons nowadays (SpongeBob, Fairly Odd Parents etc...) I would've liked another season, but it was probably better to end it before it went through seasonal rot. It was also good that each character had their own character development and some even got a redemption arc. This is definitely a show everyone should watch.
The Sandlot (1993)
Great movie
This film is a classic that is a childhood favourite. The plot seems rather mundane, but it gives you a lot of nostalgia and takes you back to being a kid again. It was nice to see the story of Smalls who moves into the new neighbourhood and tries to fit in with the other kids by becoming good at baseball. But when they accidentally throw his dad's signed baseball of Babe Ruth they go through a lot to get the ball back because of the "beast" in the neighbour's backyard. But the neighbour turns out to be a friendly man who happens to know other athletes. This is a childhood gem that is a must watch.
Groundhog Day (1993)
One of my favourites
This movie has always been a childhood favourite of mine and one I consider to be one of the most rewatchable movies of all time. I still watch it over and over and never get tired of it. Bill Murray is a legend, and he was top notch in this movie. The plot of this movie is also creative, a weatherman who does a report on the groundhog and has to relive Groundhog's day every single day and he eventually loses his mind and ends up breaking the law and doing crazy things since he wakes up everyday starting the day all over again. I give this movie a 10/10 for it's witty humor, it's memorable characters and storyline.
Flushed Away (2006)
Worth a watch
This movie is a forgotten gem that didn't nearly get enough recognition or appreciation. The plot is simple, the characters are charming and funny, and the animation is really good. The fight scenes, the underground sewer rat city, the relationship between Roddy and Rita as well as Roddy's brother Sid is what made this movie enjoyable. The chase scene where Rita and Roddy escaped with the jewel was one of my favourite scenes. I also loved the villains in the movie especially the frogs. It's a shame how underrated this movie is. It is a movie I geniuinely enjoyed. I reccommend giving it a watch.
Happy Feet (2006)
Not good
This film had a lot of potential, but ended up being a big disappointment. The plot is mediocre, the characters and voices are annoying, and it drags out for half an hour longer than it should and ends up being an honestly forgettable movie. The animation was good, and there were a few scenes I geniunely enjoyed, but there were a lot of uninteresting scenes that made me want to turn off the movie mid way. This movie would have been a lot better if there was some kind of build up or scenes that would put me on the edge of my seat, but it contains none of that. Please don't waste your time with this movie.
