Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming (2011)
THE BEST POSSIBLE PILOT EPISODE FOR GOT.
The series begins with the black castle gate opening, we are soon introduced to the wall and three rangers who begin this story, and now our watch begins. We start in the place that is known as the first wonder of the world of Westeros, the wall that separates the kingdom of men from those of savages and other more dangerous things. We are introduced to the great conflict of the night's patrol in the series, the savages, but they end up clashing with the great antagonistic force of the series, the white walkers. The shaky camera stands among the trees, the man is so small next to the great threat that lurks in this world, the ice of the song of ice and fire. The tone is cold, the saturation is low, the suspense intensifies, the ranger bends down and stealthily creeps to where he thought the savages were hiding, and is frightened when he sees them all dead, their severed bodies form a symbol that serves as a warning from the great villain. The track fits perfectly with the suspense and the editing as well, the camera gets closer to the man while parts of the bodies are quickly shown along with a small and quick burst of music, it intensifies when we see the girl's corpse in the tree and then calms down profoundly when we are shown the symbol from above. The dialogue between the two patrolmen reveals many things to us. The savages are seen in a distorted way by those who don't know them, seen as totally disloyal and barbaric, and the white walkers were until then "extinct". The night guard's main vow is to "protect the kingdom of men" and if they flee to the south they are beheaded as deserters if they are not caught first by their own brothers. Two of the three are killed and one is left alive to flee to the South and warn that the others have returned.
One of the best opening scenes I've ever seen in a series or film, the violence, the world, the antagonistic force, all presented very well here, including the map of Westeros.
Game of Thrones: The Rains of Castamere (2013)
GAME OF THRONES, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO LOVE YOU.
I'm rewatching the episode for the third time, and more and more I notice more details of dialogues among other things... which only make the episode and the scene in particular with the red wedding more Perfect, I won't be the first person to talk about Catelyn's performance, and I won't even be the last, this scream remains distressing even on the third time watching. Game of Thrones every year gains more and more fans, every year the series gains another legion of fans and I really wanted to be in the place of the person who never saw the Red Wedding just to be able to cry over it as if it were the first time. I'm not going to criticize it, it's just a small comment but I will point out that I found it interesting when Edmure said "once the bird leaves the cage there's no going back"and that's exactly what happens to him, just a small detail, the episode is perfect and I'm not in the mood to point out every success of it.
Game of Thrones: Mockingbird (2014)
A PERFECT EPISODE, HOWEVER IT'S NOT REALLY A STRONG STORY EPISODE.
I'm going to analyze and criticize the first three scenes of the episode, as there are many and there are many details that I don't want to leave out.
SCENE 1: The opening scene begins with an aftermath of the events in court, giving us the result and Jaime's reaction to Tyrion's speech. Tyrion recognizes that twyin knows he's innocent but wants him dead anyway. Tyrion talks about being aware of Jaime's activities with Cersei in the form of sarcasm and Jaime responds by making it clear that he is the only one there with Tyrion, But not for long if Tyrion isn't careful what he says. The problem finally comes to an end, Tyrion demanded a trial by combat but he doesn't have his champion, we finally gain information about the results of Jaime's training with Bronn, And the results are none. We see an improvement in their relationship as they laugh at their father. We're left with the cliffhanger of whether Bronn will actually fight for Tyrion, if he accepts, so the script already It says what the consequences will be if Bronn accepts, but without exposing too much as it is not important. The question of who will be Cersei's champion is actually revealed and then we get Tyrion's guess, Who thinks it will be Maryn Trant, and then the character gives us a short presentation of one line from Maryn, just enough line to give us an understanding of the man's character. We know it won't be who Tyrion thinks and the suspense is created for a second until we transition from Jaime's response to the scene of the mountain being presented.
The scene is only 3 minutes long, but the script is a 10.
SCENE 2: Right away, the script suggests that the mountain has recently arrived in the capital, under Cersei's command. This right after giving us a brief presentation of the character's strength and brutality, while While killing outnumbered men, one of them prefers to drop his weapon and kneel down begging for his life and he has no mercy. He soon asks who he's going to fight and Cersei knows that it doesn't matter at all due to the man's strength.
The scene lasts almost 1 minute, it's simple but great, it doesn't mess around or exaggerate the presentation.
MY FAVORITE SCENE IN THE WHOLE EPISODE IS ARYA AND SANDOR'S FIRST, I'M NOT GOING TO DO AN ANALYSIS BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY THINGS TO DETAIL, SO I'LL MAKE A BRIEF SUMMARY OF HOW GAME OF THRONES MANAGES HAVING AN EXCELLENT SCRIPT IN A SCENE OF ALMOST JUST 6 MINUTES.
In the scene we are introduced to Arya's learning up to this point, Sandor has his kind side shown and his role as a mentor also very well shown, including teaching Arya two lessons here. They receive news of Joffrey's death and are attacked by two bounty hunters looking for Sandor, one of the men was on Arya's list and she ends the scene by killing him. Not only removing one more name from his list, but at the same time showing what Sandor presented to him a few seconds ago in the same scene, they then continue their journey, leaving the cliffhanger for the next appearance.
It's a perfect episode in terms of writing, but there aren't any big moments that really change the story, other than the ending where Pinky throws Lysa out of the moon door, which makes it a little weak.
Game of Thrones (2011)
WILL AWAYS BE UNIQUE TO ME.
Game of Thrones is what every series should be. This work teaches how to write dialogues, plots, plot twists, world creation, character development, history and its progress. And of course when I say that I'm only referring to seasons 1-4. It's worth remembering that the fourth season has its mistakes, as many may know about the "shark jump" that happened in Craster's cabin. But it still remains the best in the program. The best episode without a doubt is "The Watchers on the Wall", the greatest example of what a Game of Thrones episode should be like, it mixes everything that George R. R. Martin has always been very expert at doing. This series is the greatest example of perfection that I, as a film student, have ever seen, and again I am only referring to the first 4 seasons. Since its ending I see more people pointing out the defects of seasons 5-8 and few pointing out the qualities, everyone knows that the ending was rubbish, but few know that "the battle of the bastards" is much worse than it seems, the praise given This episode is due to pure cinematography and soundtrack, and it is not a true episode of Game of Thrones, because what makes the series unique was totally forgotten in TBOB, the meaning and the great writing. Recently I realized something involving the protagonists of the series and the division of episodes, we have been following more than five protagonists from the beginning but we can still say that the true main characters of this story are Tyrion, Jon and Daenerys. In the series, each character had an episode centered on their plot, separate from all the others, all of them are battle episodes. Tyrion and Cersei had an episode focused on them, more particularly on Tyrion, which was "the battle of the black water" focused entirely from start to finish in King's Landing. Jon had an episode focused on him and Sam that was "The watchers on the wall" focused entirely on the wall. The Night King had an episode focused entirely on the Long Night which was "The Long Night" focused entirely on Winterfell, another battle that has been building for many seasons before. And then we come to Daenerys, the biggest female protagonist in the series. Daenerys has had the battle of Meeren being built since the third season, practically in the fourth. Just like the battle against the wildlings and against Stannis, it was expected that we would have an episode 9 focused only on Daenerys and Meeren, but they took this battle and simplified it in the most horrible way possible and made it happen for only 5 minutes in one episode focused on Jon.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers (2024)
THE BEST FOR NOW.
Until then I had a lot of doubts about the series, I didn't know if there could really be an episode that I could call great this season, because of the previous ones that were good or just acceptable, for various reasons regarding some action scenes, some dialogues or the script itself, and the clear timing. But this one is different, it's definitely the best in the series, the dialogues are great here, the scenes and the timing of each one are also great, the performances don't even speak to each other and you can see the progress in the development of each of the characters. My favorite scene is the conversation between Grover and Ares, the scene where Percy and Annabeth jump from the boat into the water and he saves her is extremely well done, from when they fall into the current until the moment of the shield, however, the only The thing I got that could be better is when Hephaestus appears and Annie convinces him in the easiest way possible to let Percy leave, I thought it was a bit too played that she explained it so easily with a few words, but still the best episode of the series in all aspects. I'm really looking forward to what's yet to come, I must emphasize how satisfying it is to see this rivalry between Percy and Ares being played out in this episode, knowing that it will result in one of the most memorable moments in history, the fight between both, it's incredible.
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
WOW!!
Wonderful, incredible, great.
This film is great, simply one of the best I've ever seen, the chase scene in the basement at the end, what tension. Hannibal is the best character here, the scene where Clarice talking to Lecter for the first time is great, the camera angle makes it clear that Clarice is inside the glass and Lecter is the one in control. Near the end when the cops they think they are about to find the psychopath, and Clarice is at his house without knowing it but when the clues start to appear and then she realizes and pulls out the gun, simply incredible.
The scene where Hannibal escapes, and then cuts the face of one of the police officers and uses it to escape, making the others think it was him on top of the elevator, what a scene. She found one, but let the other escape.
12 Angry Men (1957)
THE MOST INTERESTING MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN.
This is a masterpiece. It is an example of a perfect film made without many resources, with the exception of the trial scene, and the first moments and the final scene is a film that practically only has one scenario.
An excellent script, with a simple story. But what impressed me most here, with the exception of the obvious script, is the editing and camera movement. The film could have been filmed with the camera still, when a character would speak then it cut to him, but no, the director played with the camera and that helped make the film perfect from my point of view, for me this is a perfect film. And certainly indispensable for those who are starting to study cinema.
Rear Window (1954)
FANTASTIC
The film handles the suspense so well that I got scared, it was obvious that the killer was the neighbor but even so I was so suspicious of everyone who could have a Twist plot and in It's true to be nobody, which would be horrible of course, I'm just saying.
I love how Hitchcock knows how to create suspense, he not only knows how, he is a master at it. Even when nothing is happening the film keeps you focused. I need to highlight the scene where the neighbor looks at the camera.
When he is going up to Jefferies' apartment and enters, and the scene is practically unlit, showing only his suit, incredible. Really a great film.
The Wizard of Oz (1939)
MAGICAL!!
Magical, that's the word that describes the movie.
Everything about this movie is amazing, visually, sonically, the characters are iconic and Dorothy's music is beautiful, the movie starts "no color" and then she enters the Wizarding world of Oz and the world gaining colors
the script is great, the strong point of this film is the story, the characters too but the story really hooks you.
One of the best classics I've seen so far. "There are so many brainless people out there who talk, aren't there?" Great.
The cyclone scene is the best, without a doubt, as I said, visually it is amazing and for a 1939 movie this scene was very well done, the tone everything, the house flying is very well done.
Wonderful.
Le voyage dans la lune (1902)
EXCELLENT!! I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY, SO THE OBVIOUS.
I don't have much to say, it's amazing to imagine how George revolutionized cinema. This movie has a very simple story, explorers go on a trip to the moon and there they are captured by aliens. When I say this movie is amazing I don't mean for the story, but yes, I think everyone also liked the movie for the same reason, visually going back to the rocket landing on the face of the moon and her bleeding is a flawless image. It is considered the world's first science fiction film. I know people loved this movie so much when it came out, if they were blown away by the cinematography in 2001: A Space Odyssey, I wonder what they must have thought of it when it came out, considering the other films they had seen so far, well, great.
Casablanca (1942)
ONE CLASSIC!!
I wasn't that excited to see this movie, I think it's because I don't see a lot of romance movies so whenever I go see one I expect it to be like a guy meets girl and then fall in love, with time challenges arise that prevent them from being together, and then they are forced to decide, sometimes these challenges are themselves, sometimes other people or even their own dreams, but I must admit that I was surprised by Casablanca. There's a little bit of what I just said, but it's different, it has style.
How many memorable phrases!! " With so many bars around and she walks right into mine " this was the scene that left me wanting to continue. The plane scene is another, and the ending " I think this is the beginning of a pretty friendship " amazing.
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
" DO YOU WANT THE MOON? THEN I'M GOING TO THROW A LASSO AND PULL HER!! "
This film is a work of art. It's inspiring, well-written and the performances, especially George ( I don't remember the actor's name at the moment ) the scenes are all very interesting
My favorite moment was after the ball, when Mary and George are walking on the sidewalk and talking and they stop in front of the old house, he throws a rock at one of the windows and then she does the same. Him saying he's going to give her the moon, fantastic, and then Mary's robe falling off, just a great scene from beginning to end.
Potter being an ambitious man, totally different from George who always put others first, you must love your money and not make it your god, which is exactly what Potter does.
The bridge scene is very significant. After the angel shows George how the world would be if he hadn't been born and then he goes back to the bridge and begs God to let him live again, amazing.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
THE BEST FOR ME!!
I don't think I've ever been so excited watching a scene as I was when "Twist and Shout" started playing. References to Star Wars. " As John Lennon said, I don't believe in the Beatles, i believe in myself" everything i love most is in this movie, the humor is balanced, not forced. Ferris is an iconic character.
A student lying about being sick to enjoy the day with his girlfriend and best friend made for a classic, several memorable scenes, but none compare to the parents coming home and Ferris running through the neighbors' yard to get there in time, so much so that it has been referenced in many other films.
Toy Story (1995)
GOOD!!
It's amazing how they made such a good movie, with such a simple story. I don't think I know anyone who doesn't like toy story,An engaging film, which holds you from beginning to end, with a striking look and even more characters, They managed to take several real toys and transform them into characters with different personalities. And the theme song is something that cannot get out of your head.
By far my favorite moment is Buzz and Woody trying to catch Andy's car, the movie is clearly made especially for kids, and the moral the movie tries to convey is pretty cool.
Definitely one of the best animations from Pixar, or maybe one of the best animations in itself.
When Harry Met Sally... (1989)
THIS FILM HAS CHARM!!
A good movie, a really good movie, It is comforting to watch, it has subtle humor and an interesting premise. One of my concerns when watching a romance movie is that it's something cliché, and this one is completely different, it is really something good (for the third time). But the problem is in the pacing, I think it lacked emotion, it has a lot of great dialogue and interesting, and good characters. But, what was supposed to be the central theme of the story Good, That's good, it really is the central theme of the story, two lifelong friends who are afraid that sex will ruin their relationship. I just think it took too long for this moment to really arrive. In my point of view, there was a lack of emotion, as they spent most of their time developing the relationship, which by the way they did very well and is one of the strengths of the film in my opinion, at the same time that I think there are some scenes that would make no difference if they were in the film or not. So I can't single out only the bad points. Many scenes are great. The opening scene was a good way to start the story, The scene where Harry and Sally are in the restaurant is one of my favorites, is iconic. A great ending.
La La Land (2016)
EXCELLENT, ONE OF MY FAVORITES FOR SURE.
This movie is an example of a musical, the songs are great, the dancing in the stars had me hooked watching, excellent cinematography and impeccable performances, Emma Stone being great as always.
The film has character. My favorite scene is the dancing on the stars as I mentioned just now. The final scene is a work of art, me imagining how everything would be if they had stayed together. Anyway,A film full of great scenes. I would normally give it an eight, but this is that movie you didn't know you needed to see until it was finished and you want to replay every scene with music just to appreciate it.
Taxi Driver (1976)
GRATE!!
When i started this film i look in the cinematography and It is so beautiful. A simple story but with a great script. The dialogues are interesting and the soundtrack leaves a mark on the film.
Along with the palette. I didn't finish the movie wanting more or less. I ended up satisfied and it was a good experience. Scorsese is a genius, by far one of his best films, perhaps the best. A Guy with insomnia who looks for a job as a taxi driver and roams the streets of New York transporting all kinds of people from, prostitutes, homosexuals, blacks. His behavior, and the form How he cut his hair in the end makes perfect sense considering he was a Vietnam war veteran.
