Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen Part One (2023)
While not perfect, it is a fun and surprisingly emotional film!
I'm going to be honest, I actually came into this film not really expecting much. I've never been a huge Justice League fan and it seemed weird to cross it over with RWBY. Sort of felt like something that neither RWBY fans, nor Justice League fans wanted. However, I was PLEASANTLY surprised. The film contains a surprising amount of really well directed and emotional scenes, from showcasing a great way to deal with someone you know going through an anxiety attack, to learning to deal with self-doubt about yourself as a person. The Justice League were written really well, and felt right at home with the RWBY characters. Watching this made me go "Oh, THAT'S why they crossed over the Justice League!" My main gripe is that the film's plot is somewhat basic, but as it's a lead up to Part 2, I can see why it would be basic as it's still setting up characters. Other than that, another issue I had was with Nora, Ren, and Cyborg. All 3 of them felt out of character (even with Cyborg having teen emotions from my experience with Teen Titans), especially considering where in the timeline they're are at this point, and the love triangle had my eyes rolling the entire time, but if you're a fan of either RWBY or the Justice League, I recommend it!
RWBY: Volume 8 (2021)
The start of the downfall of Atlas... and Ruby Rose
This volume is dark. And I mean really, REALLY dark. However, it's through this arc that really showcases some of the best out of characters like Penny, Nora, Ren, Yang, and Oscar and their journey as themselves. Some of the best in the music, and while I believe the fights are not as good as Volume 7's overall, it more than makes up for it in pure spectacle. This also is when Ruby starts to doubt herself as a leader, and as a person, and sets up one of the best character arcs I've ever watched. A beautiful volume that will break your heart, but one that will leave you wanting to watch more immediately.
RWBY: Volume 7 (2020)
A great start to the best arc of the show!
Volume 7 is the start of the Atlas arc, an arc that would delve into some of the best exploration of the characters we've ever seen, the best production the show's ever given us, and the beginning to the deep dive of Ruby Rose, a character from the beginning who had been what one would have thought to be largely neglected, but rather, shown to have been bottling up emotions and feelings ever since the start. The pacing can get a little slow in the middle, but that doesn't stop how the action has gotten really sick! I also want to thank this volume for having, in my opinion, the best ending arc to a volume in my opinion, that being Episode 11, 12, and 13.
