The Pleasure of Your Company (2006)
Surprisingly entertaining.
It starts off as standard romantic comedy fayre but builds into something very enjoyable. The odd characters around the leads make the whole piece surprisingly entertaining. I enjoyed this film much more than most romantic comedies I have seen, and I have seen a fair few. I cannot easily write much more of a review about this or any romantic comedy without being very dull and detailed: I do not believe anyone can. Romantic comedy is not really a film genre that has a lot of substance. Even this film, which I enjoyed and made me laugh out loud in places, does not warrant a lengthy review! I could probably give away the whole plot in five lines!
Cruise of the Gods (2002)
For self-aware sci-fi geeks.
It's so close to home, it's uncomfortable on occasion but all the better for it.
If you're a sci-fi geek but are self aware enough to understand that your detailed knowledge of the Liberator in Blakes 7 is never to be exposed in polite society, this is for you.
If you've ever been to San Diego Comic-con or LA Who Convention but would never dream of getting involved in Cosplay or actually asking any of the guests on a panel a question because you are aware they are jobbing actors, who have no interest, knowledge or indeed, understanding of the significance of the universe in which they act, then this is for you.
Enjoy.
Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel (2009)
Probably my favourite film
First, I have to admit that anything that has time-travel in I will like. Secondly, anything with Andy O'Dowd in, I am probably going to like. Thirdly, if Marc Wootton (sp?) is in something, I know it will be irreverent. I like irreverent, even though, to be honest, Marc's irreverence can be a bit hit and miss with me.
Add to this: Boney M, Mad Max 2 references and the whole thing being set in a pub.
What's not to love? It's the sort of film that Jack Black would be in if it were American. It's not, though, it's British and, rather sadly, hugely overlooked. There's very little not to like about FAQATT: It's great fun. Watch it. Go on.
