Fear the Walking Dead: All I See Is Red (2023)
Great episode
The first half of this season has definitely had its ups and downs, but in my opinion it closed it out strong with back to back solid and emotional episodes with 4 and 5, and now this episode which gave me the feeling of watching some of the older episodes of The Walking Dead. Lennie James I think may have given his best performance as Morgan. It wasn't perfect and definitely still had some moments that weigh it down a bit, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am very thankful however to be done with the whole Padre plot. I think it was utterly ridiculous and could never get behind the 2 siblings as being these fearsome enemies. I am however a bit intrigued with the direction they are taking it now for the second half of this season. My favorite part of this episode was the closing moments that set up a big reunion and had Morgan reflect on his past that overall just got me very excited for the future. If Fear can capture what worked over these last couple of episodes, I think we could be in for a very promising second half and finish to this show.
Fear the Walking Dead: More Time Than You Know (2023)
Solid and Emotional episode
After 2 bad episodes and 2 good episodes, I think the season might finally be starting to find its stride. This was a solid episode with a lot of emotional moments. Some of the acting continues to be very noticeably bad but Lennie James continues to shine and do great work. Overall I think there has been enough side plots and things going on to keep me interested, along with the great visuals. There's a much different look to this season that looks and feels almost cinematic that I enjoy a lot. But I still can't get behind the whole main plot with Padre. The whole idea behind the group I find ridiculous, and how all of these people are following these 2 siblings that aren't in the least bit intimidating just because they are fearful of loss? They could've came up with something a lot better then that.
Fear the Walking Dead: Odessa (2023)
The inconsistency continues
After a promising second episode, "Odessa" falls in line with the first episode of the season. We finally get some backstory about who and what Padre really is and it's less then interesting. All of the flash back sequences were extremely dumb and almost felt parody like. We get what should have been a big and emotional reunion in this episode from 2 Fear OGs but instead it felt less then important and rushed. It continues to seem like the writers only try when they want to and when they don't, it's almost like they mash random words and plots together hoping they'll stick. The change in motives every 5 minutes for certain characters is beyond puzzling and starting to get annoying. First with Moe in episode 1 and now Dove in this episode. I hope they pick it up and start finding a more consistent pace for the remainder of this season because if they don't, we could be in for a long ride.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
One of the better Transformers movies
Transformers: Rise of the beasts is a far from perfect movie; it has a slow start that takes to long to get going, and a lot of what feels like unneeded time spent with our human characters that could have been chopped in half. But the combination of great action and a strong final act lift it up to being one of the best outings in the Transformers franchise. Peter Cullen as Optimus prime was fantastic and will forever be an icon and be the thing that carries parts of these movies. Anthony Ramos as Noah Diaz offers the franchises best human character since Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky. However I do long for the day we receive a movie in this franchise that isn't afraid to focus on just the Transformers.
