Snack Shack (2024)
Not very good
My biggest, most glaringly obvious problem with this film is the fact that we are supposed to believe these kids are 14 years old. These guys are old enough to be college graduates. Why? Even if they said they were 17 or something it really wouldn't change the plot of the movie too much. Really hard to watch when they tell me these grown ass men are children.
I watched this movie because I wanted to see something in theaters and there weren't many options, and this had good reviews. In my research however, I failed to notice that at the time there were only 9 user reviews on IMDb which is not a large enough sample to really get a good idea of how a movie is.
The laughs in this movie were few and far between. The morals were off base albeit probably being closer to how people tend to treat each other in reality. There's a big plot twist near the end of the movie that's just supposed to fix everything and it really just felt like lazy writing.
Not a movie I'll be watching again or recommending to others.
The Prank Panel (2023)
Pretty bad
How much did Johnny Knoxville and Eric Andre get paid to be on this? Huge fan of both guys but damn... they were just put on here for the name value. I really wanted to like it but it's just so cheesy and cliche. They had a decent budget for the pranks but I just feel like this show is super restricted by production for Johnny and Eric to really be themselves. Wondering if Johnny and Eric actually have any say in what the pranks end up being because they don't really seem to be their style. They are only there to pick which pranks are gonna be done (are they really the ones picking though?) and behind the scenes on the pranks. It's basically mtv punkd (which hasn't aged well) 20 years later but worse.
The Curious Case of Natalia Grace (2023)
Captivating
I don't disagree with anything in the bad reviews. Maybe not actually a 10 but it sure as hell isn't a 1 either. Watching the adopted father Michael is hilarious. That guy is one heck of a performer. It got to a point where I just couldn't wait for wait to see the next grand performance from Michael. I have never seen a grown man be so dramatic in my life. Despite this the actual story is pretty captivating and I'm glad I watched it. I was left with some unanswered questions and not feeling super happy about everything that had taken place but hopefully they will make another season of it. I wish that they had gotten the adopted mother Kristine on the documentary so we could hear from her as well!
