Mast Mein Rehne Ka (2023)
Refreshing
A fresh perspective on life, love and loss.
Apart from the leading actors I think Abhishek Chauhan and Monika Panwar played such a convincing role, I loved her in Jamtara and even more so in this film. It has been able to potray the struggles that migrants go through when they are adapting to a metropolitan city.
The quaint portrayal of the parallel relationship between the old and young couple has elements of solitude and misery but Vijay Maurya has managed to make it hearth warming with a dash of humour.
I haven't felt the need to write a review of a film in a long time and this is definitely it!
Sir (2018)
Underrated
Truly an exceptional film, Indian cinema has come a long way. The ability of the directors and writers to add such depth to the characters is what's missing from mainstream Bollywood.
People viewing it from a gendered lens may find the idea of a wealthy, privileged man and a domestic house help somewhat fetishised but, keeping that aside, there's just something so empowering about the character of Ratna and the decisions she makes.
It's just one of those films that stays with you, the acting carried out by both the main actors is phenomenal, accompanied by a flawless portrayal of class difference in Indian society.
