I, John Woodruff, cannot believe that we had to wait exactly 30 years for Yogi Bear to have another TV show to star in and believe it or not, Jellystone! Is actually outstanding!
What I liked most about Jellystone! Is the new female characters replacing the old male characters that C. H. Greenblatt (the creator of Chowder and Harvey Beaks) came up with using Trixie (Pixie and Dixie's triplet sister), Roberta Luisa "Bobbie Looey" Burra (Roberto Luis "Baba Looey" Burro's cousin), Augustina/Augusta "Girl Augie" Doggie (Augustus "Augie" Doggie's twin sister), Super Virginia "Ginny" Snooper (Super Eugene "Gene" Snooper's sister), Lucille-Pierrette "Lucy ze Loop" Devereaux (Luc-Pierre "Loopy de Loop" Devereaux's sister), Tweety "Girl Yakky" Doodle (Yakky Doodle's twin cousin and Charles a.k.a. Chopper's twin niece), Charlotte a.k.a. Girl Chopper (Charles a.k.a. Chopper's sister and Yakky Doodle's aunt), Chooey (Choo-Choo's sister), Brenda (Brain's smarter younger sister), Spooky (Spook's silent older sister), Harriet "Hardy Har Har, Sr." Harding (Harrison "Hardy Har Har, Jr." Harding's mother), Girl Yappee (Yappee's cousin), Squidwina "Girl Squiddly Diddly" Diddlington (Squidmond "Squiddly Diddly" Diddlington's sister), Jabberjaw, Jr. (Jabberjaw, Sr's daughter), Big Hon (Big Hunk's sister) and Scars (Skids' cousin) all had a chance to finally shine on TV.
I also liked seeing Yogi, Boo Boo and Cindy Bear being portrayed as animated furry Childrens Hospital medics, Wally Gator as a reptilian version of Patrick Star, Peter Potamus as a basement dwelling neckbeard, Top Cat and his gang as scammers (even though Hokey Wolf should've also participated with them), Quick Draw McGraw serving part time as both El Kabong and a school teacher and the references to other Hanna-Barbera related projects.
The only downsides I would describe about the cartoon would be Cindy Bear without her traditional southern accent that the late Julie Bennett used since her debut in 1961, Magilla Gorilla being mellow like and wearing glasses (which I actually wear) and Shag Rugg with a ghetto accent (despite being my male favorite character from the aforementioned cartoon) as well as a majority of the Yogi Bear fandom (some of them being religious, homophobic, transphobic, nostalgiatarded or all of the above) who sent poor C. H. Greenblatt (who worked so hard working on the aforementioned cartoon again) death threats for ruining Yogi Bear and claiming it worse than Hitler (which is Godwin's Law in a nutshell) and also claim that William "Bill" Hanna and Joseph "Joe" Barbera are rolling in their graves. But to be fair, I think Yo, Yogi! Deserves more hatred than Jellystone! For making NBC give up Saturday morning cartoons in favor of TNBC (not to be confused with The Nightmare Before Christmas) which lasted for 10 years from 1992 until 2002.
Overall, you deserve a pat on the back, Mr. Greenblatt. I know it may not be perfect as the traditional Yogi Bear but you, compared to Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath (the creators of Teen Titans Go! Who sadly never understood the Teen Titans concept, compared to Glen Murakami), seemed to understand the entire Yogi Bear concept as well as Hanna-Barbera in general. I admire your works and you should feel proud of yourself for giving Yogi Bear and his friends a fresh new start.
