I Love Lucy: Return Home from Europe (1956)
Season 5, Episode 26
10/10
This Episode Contains My All Time Favorite Line

Warning: Spoilers
What can you say about this final episode of the big trip to Europe?? Top notch from start to finish, you can't even imagine the trickery of Lucy trying to figure out how to get that beautiful big piece of cheese home on the plane without going through expensive customs. So of course that cheese is going to be disguised as a well wrapped baby. The constant attempts at Lucy's seatmate to get a glimpse of the fake baby is the stuff of legend. Feeding the baby? Oh poor Lucy must try to partake that whole bottle. And when the whole fiasco blows up in Lucy's face, here comes Ricky: "I AM NOT THE FATHER OF THAT CHEESE!" well you could just roll on the floor forever at that one. Fantastic episode.

Deserves Top 10

Warning: Spoilers
This episode, well where do you begin. The actress playing Elyse was off having her twins so it created this absolute gem of a storyline of the Keaton kids being on their own for the weekend. Too bad Mallory has a little fender bender with the car and in order to earn some quick cash to pay for the repair Alex comes up with the idea to rent out a room in their home as a hotel since the big football game is happening and there is literally no empty hotel rooms anywhere. It of course snowballs from there into a full fledged bed and breakfast with endless hilarity. Yes when Dad returns there is that classic monologue he gives, I really don't know how they all kept a straight face. That is why Michael Gross was so amazing on this show even though Michael J. Fox received most of the accolades and Emmys. His facial expressions were simply the BEST.

A Very Hilarious Episode
8 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
No reviews for this absolutely classic episode? Well I'll be the first. Here we have some amazing early work from Jami Gertz as the unattainable Jocelyn Clark and Daphne Zuniga as the besotted Rachel. Alex at first asks Rachel to be his date for the senior prom, then suddenly finds himself with Jocelyn as an alternative, because of course he just can't tell her the truth. The highlights of this episode are of course Skippy and Alex plotting and planning like war strategy to keep the two girls apart and oblivious to Alex's plan to take them BOTH to the prom. Freaking hysterical how they try to pull if off "The pool is Area A". Of course it gets serious at the end when Alex realizes how hurtful his plan was to one girl at least but it wraps up very well. Don't miss this one.

A Truly Original Game Show
22 December 2023
I have been obsessively watching this on Buzzr and truly enjoying it, as I was just a mere child back when it was first aired. You just have to hand it to the two impostors, they have an incredibly challenging role and they never are professional actors! When they each reveal their true identity and occupation it is always something mind bogglingly normal like store clerk or small business owner and they always do an exceptional job of throwing off that wonderful panel of judges. How amazing were Peggy Cass and Kitty Carlisle Hart with their perfect precise questions?? It is always so dramatic at the conclusion when the "real" John Jones must stand up, ahhh what a great show!

Missing the Old Cast
26 November 2023
Where are my people? Where is Kathryn, Danni, Whitney, Patricia barely seen, hell even Thomas I'd like to see again, because we got to see the polo life. So missing Cameron even though I know she quit the show years ago. I literally cannot tell apart Taylor and Olivia and why oh why have they made shallow Madison the star of the show? Fast forwarding through the trouble maker Leva. Yeah we still see Shep and Austen and Craig but don't care for JT at all. The show needs to go back to its roots at heart which was the original group, Danni was fabulous I even miss Naome. I will continue to stick with Season 9 but I truly hope it improves.

Oh what a great episode, perfectly cast, so ingenious and creative. All about Jamie thinking she is registered for college but NOPE Paul forgot to mail everything in so a mad chaos ensues with the main characters trying to beat Jamie to the registrar's office, split up and get it all done class by class. I could watch this one over and over again. Absolutely hysterical and of course you could never get away with the photo IDs today haha. The supporting players portraying the professors are the BEST at what they do and how they play off each character is what makes this episode so wonderful. And in the middle of it all is our sweet Jamie, totally in the dark what is going on around her.

Stephanie Comes to Town
13 October 2022
Oh this is one of my favorite episodes, Julie Duffy arrives as Leslie's cousin Stephanie and was so good she was tapped to replace Jennifer Holmes who was always so borriinggg!!! I miss the Kirk Devane character he was hilarious as the object of Stephanie's lust. But we were all fortunate to get Julia Duffy year 2 and then when she teamed up with Peter Scolari as Michael they really ruled the show. Best scenes here were when Kirk tossed the family out of his restaurant, omg tossing the kid's burger was the tops. Julie Duffy was really beautiful and she also had a memorable guest turn on a season 1 episode of Cheers go check it out episode called Any Friend of Diane's.

This one always has been in hysterics, love Strudwick every time he appears and it was just such an absurd plot involving Dick's "revenge" against Mary and Strudwick. The unexpected ending was terrific too!

Great Slapstick with Serious Undertones Also
7 December 2021
I loveeed this episode! I busted when David came out of the bathroom in that get-up and his line "The psycho in the basement" just so funny!! Serious undertones involving presidential safety and the Secret Service only added to its well rounded perfection.

A really perfect two part conclusion of the first amazing season. Loved that we never saw Derek's face it led to his mystique because we know that no one could compare to Sam anyway.

Mallory and Nick Happily Ever After?!
22 October 2021
LMAOOOO whenever Steven sings those dirges you just have to die laughing. He is really the shining star of that show, always loved his character. Yes the whole episode arc of 18 year old Mallory wanting to get married was unrealistic but it was a great blend of comedy and drama.

Back to the Past
23 August 2021
This one is without a doubt in my personal Top 10 of Family Ties episodes, not sure why it is not placed higher in the ratings. Just so cool to go back in time to 1776 as Alex witnesses the writing of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson a/k/a Steven Keaton. Really had some hilarious lines, excellent guest actors and that dramatic moment at the end when Alex and Steven locked eyes back in the future.

The Grandmas Battle It Out
16 April 2021
The two grandmas spend time with Barbara and end up coming to a truce. All is fine and dandy with these two great spunky actresses, Nanette Fabray and Priscilla Pointer. But come ON, Priscilla is supposed to be Joseph Campanella's MOTHER and she was three years YOUNGER than him in real life. They needed to cast a younger dad for the girls for sure and also to make Ann older than 16 and 17 when she had Julie and Barbara it just didn't make sense for the character why she was portrayed as a "teen mom".

One of the All Time Greats
10 April 2002
A fabulous sitcom, 7 great years and they knew when to quit when they were ahead. My stand out episodes include Alex having 2 dates for the prom, Alex turning his home into a rooming house to raise some cash, when Tom Hanks guest-starred as the alcoholic uncle, when Elise finds out she's pregnant, the A My Name Is Alex episode where it was done almost like a play, and when Alex dreamed he helped John Adams write the Declaration of Independence. Skippy was also an underrated addition to the cast. Great show and so glad it's being rerun on Nick at Nite right now even though late at nite!
