Some Like It Hot (1959)
A Classic Comedy With One Huge Error
There's no doubt that this film is one of the all-time classic comedies. However, the producers made one unforgivable and blatant error in making this movie: It was not filmed in color! How can you make a movie even in 1959, at the beautiful and historic Hotel Del Coronado with its classic white exterior and trademark red roof next to the blue Pacific, then have the short-sighted stupidity to film it in black and white? Not to mention the added color of the beach and yachts. What were they thinking? Filming in color would have added extra depth, dimension, and visual charm to this classic. A blatant and idiotic error in an otherwise perfect comedy movie.

It Was A Good Story For Its Time
In contrast to the previous summary, I thought this was a good, clean story and review of American history for the Kindergarten to 12th grade audience, for which this film was intended back in the mid 1950s. This was an era when more people traveled by bus and train than by airplane. And for a young Boy Scout on a cross country bus trip, learning a little history along the way from his fellow passengers was entertaining and informative. Not withstanding the previous summary by an obviously small-minded poster, we need to realize that this film is over 50 years old. And while certain perspectives and technologies have changed over that time span, this is still a worthwhile video to watch.
