The 4K Remaster Is Amazing!
28 March 2024
The Special Edition 4K Remaster is 171 minutes long, and engaging for almost every minute. Tonight, I'll watch the Theatrical Edition, which runs 140 minutes, on the 2K disc. I am interested in finding out how the extra 31 minutes added to the movie affect story line and overall watching experience. I think this restoration is a testament to James Cameron's perfectionism.

. I just watched it on my 2K Epson Home Cinema projector, and the image quality was pristine, almost better than seeing it at a theater on opening night. The soundtrack is well balanced with voice forward and dialog prominent. The side surround was used mostly used to create room ambience, and the back surround occasionally fired to create depth in certain scenes, such as dripping water inside the underwater vessel. The low end was rich, but not overpowering.

. I vaguely remember seeing the movie at the theater in 1988. I do remember the emotional ride the story took me me on. The story line engaged me then, and engaged me again on this release. The acting was top-notch. The graphics was a well-balanced mixed of miniatures and camera magic, with a touch of CGI that was absolutely amazing for 1988. I am pleased that this movie is in my movie collection.

Night Court: Wheelers of Fortune (2024)
Season 2, Episode 11

There Is a "Wheelers" Spin-Off, Here!
15 March 2024
The Wheelers (Kate Micucci, Annie O'Donnell, and Brent Spiner) had me in stitches of laughter! They took this episode 'over the top' in sitcom entertainment. There was a modern melding of "Ma and Pa Kettle", "The Little Rascals" and "The Beverly Hillbillies", definitely with the perkiness of the latter. I am watching this episode, again, right after posting this review! The producer(s) of the new 'Night Court' have a high bar to maintain after this episode. Bravo!

If someone comes up with a sitcom featuring this Wheeler family and quality writer contributions, I will make this part of my limited watching list. After some 15 years of serious science fiction entertainment, I am ready for some down-right funny at the end of my day.

Yes, I Liked It... It's December 2023
6 December 2023
My wife & I stumbled on this 2012/2013 2-season series on the "Recommended" row of TubiTV. We were looking for something to watch in this end-of-year stretch of nothing new to watch, and the strikes depleting the normal load of content.

I agree with the positive reviews I read, and am not going to repeat what they said.

I am not familiar with the book that is based on a true story. The synopsis of the 2010 movie is way different than the series, and I don't think would enjoy the movie version. This show was probably a little edgy for the time, but TV-14 rated and balanced with comedic and light to medium drama scenarios. The end of season 2 went a bit sideways. Too bad it was cancelled. There were a few good directions it could have gone, and I was hoping to see the story play out.

One Of Those Good Sleeper Movies
5 November 2023
Like many others, I found this movie to be notably entertaining. The beginning seemed to be a bit rushed in making the character developments, but this movie delivers a good story with suspense, drama, bad guys, good guys, and an intense sequence in a number of places. The CGI enhanced fire looked real enough. I saw a few places where the flames may have looked a little animated, but they were short in duration.

I was slightly amused by the assassins complaining to each other and their superior that there should have been two attack teams to take out the two targets simultaneously, assuming there was some internal cost-cutting measure that went awry causing the chain of events that become the movie.

Only the prevalent foul language (specifically the "F" word) will keep me from watching it more than once.

Really Well Done, But Stopped At 7 Seasons
5 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Like many others have written, I have enjoyed the character developments and interactions throughout the series. To me, this is a prime-time melodrama... if not a soap opera loosely built around the practice of law. If you are not familiar with how the law, the legal system and attorneys work... not worries. If you are, you just have to decide to enjoy the show. Like most other themed shows, the profession it revolves around is the least important part of the show.

When the Mike Ross (Patrick Adams) & Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) make their exits at the end of season 7, everything and everyone seems to close off well, except for the merger of the two law firms.

. It took me a while to get used to the level of profanity. Tossing around "GD" is prevalent from the beginning. The "F" word started to show up toward the end of season 6, and became extremely pronounced in season 7. For me, it was too much. An occasional drop in the proper places defines the character. At some point, it is just annoying and unsettling to me. If you are of the same mind-set, beware. If it doesn't bother you, this is an amazing series with talented actors.
