Not as bad as expected
27 March 2024
This was not as bad as I was expecting. I love Swayze and the original but I knew going in that it would not measure up. I was entertained and even enjoyed some lines and moments. This Dalton wasn't as personable as the original and I missed his camaraderie with Wade. I didn't have issues with the performances but I felt he had zero chemistry with the love interest. I felt zilch between them. It seemed like he cared more about the little girl in the bookstore which is fine. Overall, it could've been better but wasn't awful. I actually enjoyed Connor McGregor's arrogant villain. He was somewhat funny.

How does this not break a 7 on IMDb?!
16 December 2023
From the opening scene this movie is a scream. It has so many hilarious scenes and quotes! The friends have awesome chemistry on their journey to see their favorite band. The feeling of the movie takes you back to the late 70s. They nail that and everything else. I'm shocked it has bad or mediocre reviews here.

No issues with the acting and it has a great soundtrack too. Lin Shaye as Jam's mom steals every scene she's in. I laughed until I cried in some scenes like the male strip club sequence of events. It's a fun and nostalgic ride back into the late 70s on a quest to see KISS in Detroit Rock City.

Disappointing
7 January 2023
I was so excited for this show but I'm disappointed. I don't hate it but I don't love it either. I hate the modern touches. It feels too real world versus fantasy. Whiny characters using modern day language and expressions. Modern music which isn't bad but just out of place in my opinion. It's too cheeky, campy, or silly at times. The only thing saving this for me is Warwick Davis along with anything that reminds me of the movie. I wish every studio would let the actual fans take care of projects like these to deliver a love letter to the originals we all love. Instead, projects like these feel sloppy or forced just to turn a profit. Such a shame. Yet another missed opportunity to expose a new generation to beloved characters and stories. I don't expect a carbon copy of the original, but this could've been so much better. There is no need to modernize a wholesome classic and by doing so, you completely lose the feel of the original.

Amazing
28 May 2022
Dolores Claiborne is awesome. It has the most amazing performances. Literally everyone knocks it out of the park, especially Judy Parfitt. Her performance gave me chills. This movie is underrated but it is an absolute gem. A must see.

Silly
28 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I more than love Stranger Things. I love the 80s. I am a child of the 80s. And I enjoy how the show is a love letter to the 80s and sci-fi. However, this is starting to get silly. I do not want silly and campy out of this show. As much as I love The Neverending Story and the title track, the musical interlude between Dustin and Suzie was so ridiculously timed that it ruined the moment for me. It was no longer scary. It was just silly. I still love the show but I was super disappointed by this element.

Underrated
27 February 2022
This is an underrated psychological thriller with amazing performances. Especially Giovanni Ribisi. His performance blew me away. Love everything about this film and have no idea why it isn't rated higher. It has all you need. Mystery, subtle humor, suspense, and great acting by all.

Not horrible
6 March 2021
Dang the reviews are rather harsh here. Being a fan of the first one, I was happy to see the characters again. Some things could've been developed a bit better but I thought this was great fun. Don't take it so seriously and let yourself have a good time watching this.

So disappointed
26 December 2020
I'm not big on superhero movies but man I loved the first Wonder Woman. Like I was shocked by how much I loved it. I even cried at the end. This one was a huge letdown. The plot was so weak and stupid! I only enjoyed the action sequences but even those couldn't save this movie. This movie lacked storyline and heart. And even though it's superhero fiction, you have to keep it somewhat relatable. Just no.

Fell short
25 November 2019
This film is so disturbing but man it could've been great if these characters just had normal and relatable reactions to trauma. That alone ruined it for me and I'm a big Toni Collette fan. Even her brilliance couldn't save it. However, even with that distraction, this film left me feeling creeped out which is what scary movies should do. I appreciate how it all came together but I just wish it was just a little more relatable. I would've felt very traumatized if I was able to sympathize more with these characters.

Doctor Sleep (2019)

Almost great
25 November 2019
Since I love Kubrick's version of The Shining, I was excited and apprehensive for this sequel. As I watched I was surprised by how much I liked it. I was good with the characters and casting. Particularly Rose the Hat who was excellent. This part of the movie was very solid. I was fine with the early references to the Kubrick version until it became too much. The ghosts and the presence of the Overlook were absolutely terrifying in The Shining and here they fell short for me. Just not scary out of context when forced into Danny and Abra's new world. Even Rose the Hat gives it all a smirk. To me it felt unnecessary to incorporate so much of The Shining. The more you see of something, the less scary it becomes. Less is more and that would've held true here for me. Further, I never viewed the Overlook ghosts/hotel as feeding off the shine/steam but more of just a classic haunting of the place itself collecting new souls.

As much as I love The Shining, I would've preferred less of it in Doctor Sleep because it had a solid story to tell on its own.

Devastating
25 October 2019
As a fan of the books and the old Sullivan version, I was so excited for a new generation to be exposed to Anne and the story. I watched the first episode and was thrilled. Great casting and direction. Then it went wrong. Horribly wrong. Added melodrama and things totally out of character across the board. There's also no need to take a wholesome and beloved character/story and muck it up with all kinds of nonsense. I couldn't have been more disappointed and I hope that those who see the glimmers of what makes Anne so great will watch the original to see how it's supposed to be.

Please renew
23 August 2019
Why Netflix? Why?! Please renew this show!!! I recently finished watching it and am obsessed with this unique world written by star Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij. The OA is so creative, mysterious, haunting, spiritual, magical, and captivating. I love the characters and really want to see more. Please save The OA.

Missed the mark for me
2 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I love QT. Love the Kill Bills, Pulp, Inglorious Basterds, Reservoir Dogs, Death Proof...but this one missed the mark for me. I didn't find the dialogue witty or clever as it usually is. I didn't find it very funny except once with Leo lamenting on being a has been and the Bruce Lee scene. To me the Bruce Lee scene was the best part of the movie. That scene had the witty clever feel to it and the fight was both funny and realistic. I also appreciated all the QT favorites showing up like Zoe Bell, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, and Red Apple cigs to name a few.

Like the fictional fantastic ending of Inglorious Basterds, I was happier with this ending but without the real deal what was the point of developing the Sharon Tate character? I do think the acting was absolute topnotch especially from Leo, Brad, Brad's dog, and the little girl, Julia Butters, who stole thunder from the big guns. However I was often bored throughout the movie. There was too much down time with zero dialogue. Lots of driving and walking.

I was just overall disappointed but I still love QT and always will.
