Tig Notaro: Hello Again (2024 TV Special)
10/10
Fantastic
30 March 2024
If you love Tig Notaro, you will love this. It was such a pleasure to hang out with her and watch her talk for an hour. Highly recommend.

If you don't know her, give it a chance. It's a different style than the typical comedy show, very deadpan and observational, a lot of storytelling.

It's not the typical format of joke, set up, joke, joke.. Don't go into it expecting that. It's not going to be old style in that way. And that's what I love about her style. It's more of a conversation.

I always appreciate any piece of art that Tig puts out. I appreciate her worldview, her compassion, and her ability to laugh at even hard subjects.

Stoopid Funny
21 November 2023
Come on bad reviewers your expectations are off I think. I was so excited to see this and then I read the review in the New York Times kind of trashing it, so I was a little nervous walking into it, but I like these guys enough that I decided to try it.

It's just stupid funny fun, I thought it was hilarious and I actually think it's going to end up becoming a cult movie. I think you have to understand their style to enjoy it. It's tongue-in- cheek humor.

The actors are all in on the joke and I thought they were all fantastic.

If you like their video shorts, you'll like this. It's supposed to be stupid. Stupid funny.

Candy
4 July 2023
I am giving this a ten, because I feel like it's 10 stars for what it is meant to be. It's a camp piece of candy, lovely to look at and forward thinking. It takes most of the season I think for the team of actors to gel, which I think it's typical. I hope Netflix give this a chance and keeps it going. I enjoyed it and had fun watching it. Miss Benny is lovely and engaging. Other than Kim Catrall, and the other older actors, the acting as a little sketch, but it's still cute. I feel like they're learning as they go along and the ensemble gets stronger as the episodes progress. It didn't stop me from enjoying it. Watching brightly colored, low stakes makeup emergencies are the perfect escape from life:)

Fun and camp
27 May 2023
The show was everything you expected to be. It was fun and camp. I thought the writing and the acting was fun - Especially Fortune and her spy partner - hilarious. It's just a fun popcorn type experience. Enjoy it for what it is. Yes there are plotholes, etc. But it made for a fun weekend.

I don't normally love Arnold, but in this, I thought he was fun and well cast. The show clipped along at a good pace. The team of people in the cast I thought clicked well together. Enjoyed the family dynamic and the therapist. Everyone was very likable and had fun lines. I hope they have another season. Don't expect Oscar material, and you will enjoy.

Brilliant
12 April 2023
The show is brilliant. I was shocked how low the rating is overall here. The acting is really great, it's well written and filmed, and plays almost like a documentary in its realism. The allegory that the show is telling is super important I believe. I feel it's one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. It's entertaining but also meaningful.

I definitely recommend it. Perhaps see for yourself and check it out if you like stories that have something important to say about the world. I feel uplifted and inspired watching this series.

I have seen the four episodes currently available, and I am very much looking forward to watching how it plays out.

so bad it's good
3 December 2022
This show is just so stupid in just the best way. Flula Borg is a revelation and every time he's on screen I just smile. It's camp and earnest in a way that just makes you want to love everything they're doing. This isn't a serious artistic masterpiece in any way, nor was it intended to be. I watch it when I just need a smile and not to think of the dumpster fire of violence and climate disaster happening around the world. I love all the Berlin references and satire. Enough cute little songs to satisfy me. The best is just the little asides like the bit around "Cups". Adam is just amazing, and if you don't care for him, you probably won't like this - it's his vehicle all the way, with Flula as the Robin to his Batman, and the other main actors are just as great. So many of them playing "off type" so that's fun also.

Fantastic

Come on, what else could you want from a movie? Great camp from the famous actors, great effects, great costumes, totally fantastic fairytale storyline. The girls are the heroes, it's a diverse cast - including a few larger actors (finally! More please!), and empathy and love are the strongest superpowers. I am an adult woman, and I would have loved to have had heroines like this to emulate in my youth. I don't know anything about the book or books, I just enjoyed it for what it was. Loved the emphasis on people being human, not a perfect good or perfect bad. Hope they make more in this series.

missing something
5 September 2022
I wanted to love this, it had all the elements of things I would like. As others have written, there was something off about the tone. I appreciated an attempted skewering of megachurches. The acting was great. But the topic is just so heavy, and they did a great job of showing the horror of it really, but then kind of framing it as a "mockumentary" (which is so prevalent in the culture, it's like we're wired to know how it will go) - the humor was off somehow. I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's because the marketing frames it as a comedy. I definitely, definitely did not feel good while watching it or after. It was actually profoundly disturbing. Which I'm up for, but just wasn't in that frame of mind in my expectations I guess. You could see this as potentially creatively brilliant, but unfortunately it didn't quite pull that off.

Wonderful
5 September 2022
I watched this because someone told me I would be pleasantly surprised by it, and I was. I could care less about cubing, but this documentary wasn't really about cubing, in my opinion. It was about a heartfelt friendship between two boys in unusual circumstances in life. Highly recommend. Only 40 minutes, and just as lovely as you could hope for. Well done and captivating.

Not sure why we have to write 600 characters now so don't pay attention to this part. Just taking up space by writing and writing.... I loved the parents of both boys/men, but esp. Max's parents. They are the parents anyone would want to have.

Cute

This is a cute romantic comedy. The actors were very good and they overall elevated the more formulaic writing. I enjoyed seeing another culture represented in an English speaking romantic comedy.

Incredibly ridiculous
14 August 2022
I'm all for a schlocky supernatural tale, but this one is just incredibly stupid. There are so many plot holes, and nothing emotionally makes sense. These people say they're in love and there's just nothing there. I'm four episodes in and I'm kind of hate watching it now, because it's making me laugh In disbelief.

Cringy
31 July 2022
Darren Star's sense of humor seems to have just gotten really out of touch and cringy since the turn of the century. The actors are generally good but they have some really bad lines. A joke about bulimia being a enviable form of weight loss? Just Yuck.

Give it a chance
10 May 2022
It's true what another reviewer said - you have to give it at least two episodes before you can really make a judgment call. The first episode I really wondered why I was watching this, and I thought it was completely terrible. By the third episode I thought "this is actually pretty good", and by the fourth episode I thought "this is brilliant".

It's definitely something that builds, and you kind of are supposed to dislike Kevin for the most part and his buddies.

It's a bit genre defying, and hard to describe, but worth a watch. Fast paced, good acting, interesting.

The show is just so unbelievably dear and sweet. Such a delicate and genuine mood. A lovely coming of age story. Very well done. Does better than most in the genre.

Great movie
19 April 2022
This was such a sweet yet passionate coming of age story. Much better than expected. Great young actors. Fun element with the metal music added in. Not at all a crass or thoughtless teen movie, in fact quite the opposite.

This is much better than it seemed in the previews. Funny but still saying a lot. I feel like it's the first show that has come close to reflecting my college experience.

You were thinking to yourself "I'd like to see Season 1 of Bridgerton with the exact same story but with two different leads, and less sex," then Season 2 is for you!

Awesome
20 March 2022
I overall love this show and all of the actors, but this episode was just "muah!" Chef's kiss Stupendous. The end sequence to "The Chain" was fantastic and so appreciated, a lightning bolt of creativity. I would watch anything with these guys. Also a pleasure to watch a mostly male cast without feeling like I'm cringing the whole time.

Ugh
19 March 2022
Would have rated it a bit higher if it didn't have such a stupid ending.

I read all the reviews so I was expecting something but certainly didn't expect this.

I thought I was just watching a generic Netflix mystery thriller, which I was, with great acting, until it was just so dumb in the last episode.

You'll probably be like me and think how bad could it be, and watch it, and then end up writing a review here saying the same thing.

Way better than previews suggest.
18 March 2022
WOW. This was fantastic. Saw first two Episodes. I almost didn't watch it because the previews made it look a little corny and offensive. It actually has a lot to say and is very respectful to women and very sex positive, while still being really funny and heartwarming.

If you're uncomfortable around the area of sexual expression, you're probably going to be uncomfortable with this, but that might be a good thing. Expand the box!

Think Bridesmaids meets Playboy meets Gloria Steinem with a little New Girl thrown in.

Not great
22 February 2022
As a prequel this was not great. It did not match the tone of the other movies which were more fun and kind of tongue-in-cheek. This movie was really sober and serious.

Not well executed
6 February 2022
A lot of people aren't getting that this is a satire of a type, but I think there's a reason they're not getting it. Somehow the tone wasn't quite right. I thought all the different little parody things were cute, but there wasn't enough of them and somehow the tone was just weird. I'm a total fan of super subtle wit, but this was actually played too straight I think.

Fantastic
17 December 2021
This show was way way WAY better than I expected it to be. These men were all amateurs with no dance experience, and were so sweet and vulnerable. It was like watching your boyfriend earnestly learn how to try out for Magic Mike.

The production was fantastic, and it was just so fun to watch. I loved Adam Rodriguez he was so sweet and joyful.

I ended up watching the entire thing in one day I was so delighted with it.
