Punch-Drunk Love (2002)
Punch Drunk Heaven
This movie was brilliant. PT Anderson did an amazing job, as
usual, taking what seem to be small human emotions and making
them into a colorful, intriguing, and delightful romantic comedy.
Adam Sandler, one of my all time favorite actors and obsessions,
does an absolutely wonderful job as Barry Egan. This is Sandler´s
breakthrough, the one I´ve been hoping for since The Wedding
Singer. He brings so much grace to this movie in a role so
beautifully unlike any others he´s had. Emily Watson´s
performance as Lena Leonard, Barry´s love interest, is great too.
And of course Philip Seymour Hoffman performs very well as a
gritty owner of a phone sex company named Dean Trumbell. The
movie is a pleasant and enjoyable experience and a true treat for
the eyes to watch. The acting is well done, the movie was cast
perfectly and of course PTA´s direction and writing is something
not to be missed. This movie is pure punch drunk heaven
Mr. Deeds (2002)
Best movie so far
This is, by far, Adam Sandler's best film. I have already seen it 3 times and it was just released today. I am Adam Sandler's biggest fan, so I may be a bit biased, but I just loved this movie. A lot of people are complaining about the romance factor but thats just stupid. It's good to see Adam redeeming himself after Little Nicky. He is also starting to branch out and play some more serious roles, which is good for him I think. I thought Deeds was very very funny and very sweet. The plot was good and the characters were awesome. I just loved it! It's my new favorite movie. I have to also give credit to an awesome performance by John Turturro. He was so funny in this movie as the "sneaky" butler. We'll look for him in Adam's 2003 movie "Anger Management" But anyway, Adam Sandler's new movie Mr. Deeds is definitely a good fan for Sandler fans and non-fans alike. It's funny, and romantic, and just an overall good time.
Adam Sandler is one of the greats in comedy, we know that. But I say, give him a chance at other things people. Like Paul Thomas Anderson's "Punch Drunk Love" coming this fall. It's a "dramady", and the great San-doo is gonna kick butt and stack 'em ten high! I love Adam Sandler and all my love to you, the reader. And my apologies for making you read this.
Saturday Night Live: The Best of Adam Sandler (1999)
I am in love w/ Adam
I swear, this movie is hilarious. I bought it because I am a huge Adam Sandler fan (dare I say, his number one fan?) but even if you arent you will crack up. It's so funny. I mean, anytime you put the great Adam Sandler with others like Kevin Nealon or the late great Chris Farley, you've got a great film. SNL is a fantastic show, but it will never be as good as it was when the amazing Adam was on the show. Look especially for the skits The Herlihy Boy, Lunchlady Land, Adam as Bruce Springsteen, and various Operaman songs. This video is a definite keeper! Its fantastic and so is Adam Sandler !!!!!!! :-)
The Wedding Singer (1998)
Something a little different
When 'The Wedding Singer' was released, people had just finished laughing their heads off at Adam Sandler's last movie 'Happy Gilmore'. But the Wedding Singer delivers something a little different. Of course it's funny. It had me laughing throughout almost the entire thing. But it's also a quite romantic film. It was nice to see a softer side to Adam...and Drew Barrymore was great too. Not to mention the fact that Steve Buscemi had a hilarious cameo and co-stars Allen Covert and Christine Taylor were sparkling. This is my all time favorite movie so I may be a little biased (also I am in love with Adam Sandler....its frightening how obsessed I am) but I do recomend it for a light funny film with some touching romance thrown in here or there
