Tourist Trap (1979)
8/10
Tourist Trap and the meaning of life.
30 April 2004
Tourist Trap is visually striking, with an original, playful storyline. The writers and director knew the plot was far-fetched. Its not trying to be an episode of E.R. Lol. If you find yourself picking apart the script and pointing out plot

inconsistencies, you have officially missed the boat! Kick back and enjoy the fun. Worrying about such deep thoughts as "why didn't Slausen fight the

government with his telekenetic powers " is besides the point. Its just a movie.

Grim tone and atmosphere makes for a grueling study of insanity.

It doesnt get much more grim than Dont Go in the House folks. And I'm not just talking about Donny Kohler's choice in music "When we get home....when were alone" . There is something profoundly artistic about this film whether it be intentional or not. The bleakness and raw style,or lack of style in definetely not for everyone. here is no safe cutaways to humor, just gritty.realistic film.

Crackles, pops, film grain and all. DGINH runs a little long in the tooth but for me it just adds to the realism. Its interesting to hear that Tarantino backs this one up. One last thing,If you think this movie is a hack job and that no one came out of this ,you'd be wrong. Good ol' Donny Kohler(Dan Grimaldi) went on to fame in Law and Order and the Sopranos.

Atrocious! and I wouldnt want it any other way.
5 January 2004
Sometimes ,a film is so outrageously bad in a good way ,that the sum is greater than its parts. Dracula VS. Frankenstein is an interesting, vibrant, quirky, mess. If you get the chance, view this film. The make-up is so bad on "Zappula" .

The white make-up starts on his hands but runs out as it goes up his arms. Enjoy.

Magic (1978)
Hauntingly unforgettable.
3 December 2003
Hopkins doesnt seem to mention Magic much. While it isnt the fastest pace movie around,it is creepy, thoroughly well acted, and I dare you to find a movie with better use of a harmonica/accordian in its soundtrack. But my all-time favorite thing about Magic is the puppet- "Fats". A truly overlooked classic character. FACT: Fats was designed by Disney employees, but Disney didnt want to be associated with such a dark film. Also, the films Production Designer went on to win several Oscars.

Tourist Trap (1979)
8/10
In regards to offbeat, original cinema, this is one of the best.
4 November 2003
Despite a silly premise, ridiculous plot devices and low budget,Tourist Trap

manages to be striking. An inventive ,beautifully scored film,a must see. You have to throw rationality out the window to fully appreciate what the director was trying to do If you can manage that, you will be in for a pleasant surprise. Also take note that this is one of the few semi-classic horror films that wasn't spoiled by numerous sequels.

The Item (1999)
One of the better shot on video releases.
25 August 2003
The item is one of the best shot on video releases ive watched. If this horror/ comedy was shot on film,id give it a much higher rating. The lead actor"Alex" was an interesting character. The actual "Item" itself is not so hot. Still gets credit for most creative use of a puppet though.Only rent this if you like films like Eraserhead or extreme cheese low budget horror.
