Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 (1983)
Smokey And The Flop
By Joe Simiana Sydney Australia I was disappointed that Universal did not wait for Burt To Finish making "Best little whorehouse in Texas" instead they went on ahead anyway and made this flick, they only had to wait 10 months, i hated that darn fish on the roof of the sheriffs car all the way through, sort of took away the authority and stature of Sheriff Buford T Justice.
The Main thought that stuck in my mind with Sheriffs Character from the previous Films was that he was from the old school of law enforcement, stood tall and proud and took no crap from any foe, and was always entertaining watching his confrontations with others during the earlier films Smokey 1 and 2.
This seemed to diminish and the character changed somewhat, venturing into strip clubs, nudist colonies, Fetish motels, very unnecessary.
I would have thought "The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo" would have made a better film, with Claude Atkins, Jackie Gleason, Bj and Bandit joining forces.
In Smokey and the bandit part 3 the woeful actress if that named (Colleen Camp), who teams up with Jerry Reed as bandit throughout the film wears a bad wig, bad dress sense, and really cannot act, she can be noticed really trying to put on fake laughs throughout this film, and her whining voice, i mean i always remembered the true Burt Reynolds bandit with the hottest girls ever, you can't tell me there was no other better looking women hanging around the Universal back lot that could of been used instead,or where they all taken up and sent over for filming "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas", i was wondering when she would be thrown out of the car, Jerry reed getting all excited parading around as bandit with that car and hat and he reels in Colleen Camp????...Getting Desperate in his old age, and Jerry Reeds Character (snowman) is married with Children, and Fred the dog, so whats he doing ??? and why with Colleen Camp for heavens sake?? Im Sorry but every film (Colleen Camp) has been in she plays the same obnoxious, in your face, character resembling a caffeine addict, or suffering some sort of withdrawal symptoms in the attitude and whinny voice she has in her acting desperately in need of a fix.
One stunt woman turned actress named (Faith Minton) is a remember able looking sort, tall, leggy, and a face to match any fantasy, plays the dragon lady who is smitten by the Sheriff who forces her way into hitching a ride with the Sheriff....i don't know why the sheriff is running away from her as she is more of an eye full better than bandits colleen camp seat cover.
Watch this movie if you are a fan of Jackie Gleeson....or Faith Minton remember this film was shot in the years where CB Radios where dying out and truckers fighting cops were all said and done, even BJ and The Bear was axed 3 years before, "The dukes of Hazzard" and "The A-Team" were on the rise so i guess Universal wanted In on the Zany Madcap Sheriff Car Crashing Icon that was a big hit in the early 1970's But this was 1983, and it just didn't stick with other films out that year like "Ghostbusters" "Gremlins" "Two Of A Kind" and "Twilight Zone The Movie" and another Universal comeback "Jaws 3" they must have fired a scriptwriter that year....or Hal Needham wasn't available.
Casino Royale (2006)
Why The Classic Bond Theme is Missing In This Film (Possible Spoiler)
Keep in Mind This Film Is Based on the era before James Bond Reached his 007 status became or created his well loved character, this is why the familiar Monty Norman Theme is not heard throughout the film, as James Bond in this film is still developing his personality.
The Only Other Time this storyline happened in earlier Bond Films is in "On Her Majestys Secret Service" (1968) showing George Lazenby Reflecting on his first "007" mission showing Diana Rigg as his lost love.
As CASINO ROYALE (2006) is based on this excerpt that George Lazenby Reflected on before bond developed his attitude and character.
Also The CD Soundtrack to this Film, does not contain the Title Track "you know my name" Written By Chris Cornell complete with the Monty Norman Accompaniment as all the Other Bond Films have, Take "Goldfinger" Shirley Bassy for example.
The Magnificent Seven (1960)
"Fought Like Seven Hundred" - Fought On Set
This Film Is Great, What a Cast, the last of the great American westerns,Before Clint Eastwood Reprised them in the spaghetti Westerns.
The Magnificent Seven, taken off the Japanese Film "The Seven Samurai" However There was a lot more fighting off Camera than On.
Yul Brynner who arranged to Purchase the Japanese Film Rights to remake the film in partnership with Anthony Quinn, had a fall out with Quinn who sued in A Los Angeles Court over the producer credits, amongst scriptwriter Walter Newman,
During the time of filming this motion Picture there was an Actors Strike threatening to close Hollywood, over blacklisting communist witch-hunters, However due to the Actors already Signing a deal before the strike deadline, the film was commissioned and filmed in Mexico away from USA Strikers.
A Mexican Female Censor was brought in as not to denegrate the Mexican actors, one instance was The Mexican Cast were to have Clean Shirts and not to appear as peasants with grey torn pathetic costumes as portrayed in most westerns.
Actor Steve McQueen also had numerous clashes with Producer and Lead Actor Yul Brynner over stealing the scenes, If one watches the film you can see Actor Steve McQueen Occasionally take his hat off and play with it while Yul Says His Lines, This was Mcqueens way of distracting the audience off Yul while the cameras Rolled, Apparently Yul Did Not Realize this was going on until half the film was shot, and warned Mcqueen not to ad-lib his movements again or he was Out of the Picture,
This warning came directly after the last scenes were shot which appeared very early in the Picture where both Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen appear side by side in the Coral Apprehensive of the Funeral Wagon, you will see Steve Mqueen Play And Move With his Hat, Make Unscripted facial movements and stretch and fidget and so on Behind YUL.
This was one of the Last Times Mqueen Did this, However you Will See Yul Brynner Turn To Steve Mcqueen as he catches McQueen from the corner of his eye, during the Funeral Wagon scenes, this was left in the Picture, amongst other scenes of McQueen Doing The same Thing.
Steve McQueen also shot a live round towards a stagehand in the second floor window who was moving the Curtains, unbeknowns to anybody on set, this almost stopped the Picture, McQueen was also quoted by fellow actor Robert Vaughan " McQueen constantly raved and whined about Yul Brynner having a bigger Horse, and a Bigger Gun, and made many attempts to Take the action and lead role off Yul Brynner, saying that a Mongolian Born bald Brooklyn man trying to play cowboy would look silly and the Picture would be a flop" nonetheless too much film had already been shot and only Days remained to complete The Picture.
Yul Brynner also Announced his Marriage on set and the Crew and Film Company threw a Mexican Fiesta for The Couple which was used and edited into the Film portraying The Arrival to The Magnificent Seven into The Mexican Town In The Picture.
It Was Reported Actor Steve Mcqueen did not want anything to do with Yul's Wedding Party and Resented the attention Yul Brynner was getting over the Celebration and Hung Out In One Of The Saloon Sets On The Picture and was not seen again until casting call returned.
Also Actor Eli Wallach Was Repeatedly asked to put his gun in his holster without looking at his gun by the director, after numerous tries failing to do so, it was left in the film that Eli Wallach as the Bandido Gang Leader would place his gun while looking for the holster on his hip.
I Am Sam (2001)
Major Problems With Lip Sync
This Would have been a terrific Movie , Great Cast, Great Performances. The Film Was Shot in the style of an observer to the scenes with sharp, quick T.V Documentary style Camera Movements which almost every Director seems to adapt this Shameless habit, (maybe the Cameraman was Stoned during filming.) One setback is the entire film is purposely out of lip sync,
Yes, out of lip sync, mix this with sharp erratic camera movements and you may feel like taking a headache pill.
I found that this film was ruined with this ridiculous attempt at being arty.
If the film makers just put more energy in Sound editing, (yes the lip sync) and invest in a Tripod for their cameras it might have finished watching it, reading the book instead, no sudden camera movements there,i was absolutely appalled at how anyone could say these filmakers should never be allowed to ruin another film again.
Ghost Story (1972)
Alice Ghostley
In One Episode "Time of Terror" (episode # 1.13) where Alice Ghostley appeared, played a School Teacher who met her demise after trying to reason with half man half bats that awaken after ancient slumber in a small dusty American town, who feed off the locals, I recall a good notable cast in this episode, Effects where exceptional for its day, I recall this was the first time i saw special effect contact lenses used on characters that really shocked me at the time along with voice effects, mind you i was 8 years old, I stayed up to watch it thinking it was going to be funny as the promo showed Alice Ghostley, as we know her usual character roles are comical, Recently the adaptation of this particular episode was the basis of the film Jeepers Creepers (2001)
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966)
Classic Don Knotts
They Sure Don't make Them like This Anymore without Swearing And Sexual Gestures, As for the Remake... Disneys The Haunted Mansion!!! They gave Don Knotts A Cameo, I think "The Ghost And Mr Chicken" should be left just the way it was....as it has been since 1965, A Classic.
This Movie Has Very rarely been seen in Australia, i have been looking out for it to reappear since about 1976 one Saturday Afternoon, its not released on Video Or DVD Down here In OZ.
If You Loved This Movie You'll Love How to Frame a Figg (1971) another Don Knotts classic.
True Innocent Slapstick, Goofy, Slightly Spooky,Immortalised as a Don Knotts Classic, The Facials Don knotts Comes up with is pure genius.
Everyone played the "Whats That noise lets check it out game" with all the kids in the street at one stage....i think this movie is where most of us got it from.
