Andor (2022)
Andor VS Mandalorian and about Episode 11's dog fight.
While I agree that Andor is a good Star Wars TV series, I do like The Mandalorian better. While there are very good scenes that explain how the transition from the Republic to the Empire took place in Andor, I do think some scenes are drawn out too far. And in a galaxy where faster than light travel is possible, I still find it very difficult to believe people would be hard up for food and that rebels would be living in tents. Why aren't the rebels living in modular housing (in the outdoors) that's easy to transport from one place to another?
About Episode 11. Did you notice when Luthen flies past the Arrestor Cruiser's bridge that the three Imperial soldiers standing next to the front of the windows on the bridge, did NOT follow the Fondor Haulcraft's flyby with their heads? Nor did any of them duck or step back slightly when that ship flew dangerously close to the bridge.
Dead in a Week (Or Your Money Back) (2018)
Dead In A Week
After watching this movie, I decided to read some reviews about it online and several writers wrote about why they didn't like this movie. As a teenager, I never trusted people reviewing movies because everyone has different tastes in movies.
I still don't trust articles about movies found in well-known publications or from "movie reviewers". And you shouldn't take my review as the last word, either. If you haven't seen this movie and are counting on the reviews to make up your mind if you are going to watch this movie, you are not using your mind. What's the point of having a brain, if you are not using it?
With that said, I did like this movie because it does address suicide. And in our still repressed society in the USA where I live - for many people here, most people don't talk about suicide. I personally don't like to know details in a movie I am about to see; therefore, I won't talk about the movie itself.
But I would recommend that if you know the premise of the movie and that has peaked your curiosity, then watch the movie and decide for yourself if you like the movie.
Death Note (2017)
I really liked this Netflix movie.
I recommend that you watch this movie before reading any reviews. Simply make up your own mind about this movie as to whether you like it or not.
I just watched Death Note tonight on Netflix. Just before I wrote this review, I read a few bad reviews on IMDb about this movie. Then I immediately stopped reading these bad reviews.
I've never heard of Death Note before, so I was hoping to see a unique movie on Netflix since there seems to be too many movies on Netflix that I'm not interested in. I thought the acting was good and I liked to the story. It was certainly a unique story, in my book. I was glued to the TV when watching this movie.
I hope they come out with a sequel or two.
Queer Duck (2000)
One of the best gay cartoons I've ever seen.
This has to be one of the best gay cartoons I've ever seen and over the years, I watched all 20 episodes over and over again. The episodes are about 3 minutes each so it's easy to watch them all in one sitting.
Spoiler: I like this cartoon because they talk openly and frankly about gay issues, being gay and gay sex, just as many gay men talk between themselves in reality, and don't mince words. This is refreshing to me, because in my experience, conversations between gay and straight people, when it comes to talking about sex, is typically toned down. For gay people, it's nice to see that nothing, including talking about sex or using swear words, is not censored in this cartoon.
In the gay world, we openly and welcome talking about gay sex, STDs, and any other issue we want to discuss because we care about understanding the world we live in and how to survive in countries, such as the USA, which still have many homophobic people.
As of the time of my comment, Queer Duck can be seen for free on YouTube.
Lucifer (2016)
This is my newest favorite TV show.
I really like this TV show. I like the fact that Lucifer calls a spade a spade, is an extremely honest person (most of the time), he doesn't lie about who he really is, he hates it when humans lie, he keeps his word, he enjoys punishing bad people and I like his superpowers.
I also enjoy finding out about any new superpowers that Lucifer has as the show unfolds. I also like the fact that he chose Los Angeles to live because I like Los Angeles and it would be a great city to live in (if one was actually Satan or not Satan) and that he wants to help solve crimes with a Los Angeles police detective.
At the end of the very first episode, he realizes he wants to seek professional psychological help since he would like to learn more about himself. I like that he is seeking help for this, even though one would think since he's lived many years (Billions of years? Not sure.) he would have a full understanding of himself; however, much to his own surprise, he is learning new things about himself.
The icing on the cake is that this TV show makes the credulous squirm and get bent out of shape in real life because the show is about Satan himself.
Hollywood's Best Film Directors (2009)
The film content is great but the graphics and presentation is awful.
First let me say I love many types of movies, including black and white movies as well as watching "The Making Of", out-takes and movie documentaries. So, when I first discovered this documentary, I was very happy to begin to watch this TV series.
It is April 10, 2015 as I type this review because I found this documentary today on Netflex and starting watching it. (On this day, the first season only, is on Netflex.) According to Netflex, the first season has 20 episodes. The content of the interviews are fantastic. The directors I watched were very calm, as well as open and honest about their careers as directors. It was quite fantastic hearing them talk about their movies, the people they met and their life experiences.
However, I could only bear to watch 6 episodes. The opening graphics and other graphics in this documentary looked like something an administrative assistant or high school student, with no graphic design training what-so-ever, would do. Most of the filming had a box in the center of the frame which was in focus and the outside perimeter of the box was out-of-focus. At certain points, they would reduce the video of the director talking, to the left side of the frame, and then show another picture(s) or video (of a theater, film school or place where the director had been early in his career) on the right side of the frame and all pictures would be extremely small at this point. Having multiple small photos or videos running at the same time made it almost impossible to see what they were trying to show.
This documentary is too difficult on the eyes because of the horrible way which the unqualified person put together this film. What a sad tribute to the great Hollywood directors who took the time to be in this documentary, only to be framed in an ugly and aggravatingly graphically designed film.
