From Scratch (2022)
Snoozefest
The writers didn't give me enough material to really care about the hero or the heroine. So I wasn't emotionally invested in their struggles or love story. Even the girl's parents' divorcee/stepmum/regrets dynamics was more interesting to watch.
Episode 1 was all sorts of unrealistic and unoriginal. Mere hours aftee getting off a plane, she all of a sudden falls into a love triangle with two attractive Italian guys - one modest, one pompous. An arc that's been done many times before. Dialogue is also corny as hell.
Disappointed in the main actress's acting. Good in parts, other parts seemed off. I'd rather her sister was the heroine. Even the guy's parents' performance were more compelling. I expected much more from Hello Sunshine given their past productions. It was just all-round exhausting to watch.
On the positive side though, amazing Italian music!
Ava (2020)
Meh
Just another assassin plot line from the late 90s/early 2000s. Nothing original and didn't care much for any of the characters. No depth whatsoever, and I feel like it's missing a first part because there was literally no back story shown, so it was hard to sympathize with the protagonist - flash backs would've provided this. And, with the foreshadowing that happens in the last scene, you can pretty much predict what Part 2 will be about. Next.
You Are My Home (2020)
CRIED THE ENTIRE TIME
Not even joking.... I was in tears from beginning to end. Not even Titanic stands a chance against how much I cried. A bittersweet movie worth every second. I think what's more surprising is even though there were cringy parts and illogical progressions (as with most Christmas movies), the overarching plot was still very well delivered. The little girl is a brilliant actress as well. Also, great to see fresh-face Alyssa!
Virgin River (2019)
Meh
Little miss perfect who thinks she knows everyone and can fix everyone's problems.
Take Me (2017)
INTERESTING STORYLINE
This was such a weird film lol. Pretty humorous and unexpected. It's the kind of film you really want to give a 1-star but you can't because you'd have to admit it was quite entertaining. I kind of saw the end coming but the way it all played out was comical (in a good way).
Christmas Catch (2018)
Waste of time
Lead character is the worst kind of cop there is. It's meant to be endearing, but it was just straight up annoying. Whole film is cringe-worthy!! Urgh.
Instant Family (2018)
Amazing
This movie was nothing short of beautiful. Amazingly written, well paced and just all-round brilliant storytelling.
Fractured (2019)
I saw Shutter Island a mile away...
I just wish I didn't correctly guess the trajectory of the film much earlier in it. I was literally just waiting for the plot twist to happen so that it can end. Good flick though, just highly predictable.
The Island (2005)
Two human-clones find intelligence.
RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED.RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED.It was an awesome movie. I just finished watching this movie and wow...the cinematography, special effects, story-line, all superb. Everything was breath-taking and just WOW. I'm not usually into SciFi but this is the best i've ever seen of the genre. After watching it, you'd wish for part 2 which i am curiously wishing for right now. Highly recommended if you're into suspense, fiction, action and ENTERTAINMENT. RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED.RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED.RECOMMENDED. RECOMMENDED.(Oh but it's not a family movie! Don't wanna scare the kids.)
