Aliens (1986)
Just Got Everything!
This movie is one of those totally unique rarities because it has just got absolute everything. The special effects, characters, screenplay, suspense and roller coaster, edge of your seat twisting and turning plot. If I was involved in making this movie I would name drop it forever more because my credibility would be right there up in the clouds.
This Movie should be shown to all movie making students! What a classic! You can still watch it nearly a quarter of a century after its original production start and I can tell you one thing and that is it hasn't dated one bit, in fact I reckon this film will be regarded as a all time classic in 50 years time!
Frankenstein (1931)
A Classic!
I just wonder in awe at the uniqueness and charm of this movie, the atmospherics, sets, backgrounds, lighting, effects, sound and visuals etc. Even by watching you just get a totally uncanny sense of being part of and being real-time witness of a magnificent period of cinematic history.
You can almost taste the 1930's. It's the nearest thing you'll ever experience of whats its actually like to get in a time machine. Just switch off the lights and you can even imagine yourself being a 1930's cinema goer. Beautiful experience!
This film is nothing less than a classic! It just encapsulates the best of everything involved in movie making!
The Kingdom (2007)
Where was Arnie?
This movie started off o.k but just ended up like one of your typical clichéd all American hero, crash, bang, car chase, shoot, explosion, crash, bang, car chase, shoot and explosion type movies. It's just amazing how a lightly armed group of people can fire enough rounds to kill a whole pre-Glasnost Red Army with entire Warsaw Pact back up included. How many rounds do those magazines actually hold? Expected Arnold Schwarzenegger's John Matrix character from Commando to pop up at any moment. He possessed exactly the same FBI quality to dodge RPGs, the odd grenade, shrapnel, flying debris and automatic machine gun fire whilst being fired upon from a multitude of angles and firing positions from a larger group of assailants. Perhaps assailant is the wrong word because it seems these assailants couldn't hit a dead cows a*** with two banjo's tied together!
