I had read a great review of this movie so I rented it...bad idea. It was childish, predictable, and not funny. Don't bother. Also, for many of the scenes, the colors were flat and dull. I thought Amy Sedaris would be really funny after seeing her on the Late Show, but she used this high pitched voice the whole time. I just wanted it to stop. And there was racism in the movie...in fact the next-to-last line has blatant racism in it. If you want to actually laugh, watch David Sedaris, not his sister in this movie. Maybe she'll make a better one. I can't believe the guy whose review I read described it in glowing terms.

Despite the excellent acting performances, this movie merely narrates its events step by step, peppered with flashbacks of Danny and Mariane's happy moments. There is no character development or exploration, no substantial background on the setting, and little depth in the story. On a minor point, Angelina Jolie's hair is pulled up whether she is awake or asleep, in or out of bed, all the time. What actual person has her hair up literally 24/7? Overall, the film is boring.
If you want to watch Angelina Jolie for her skillful acting, you may want to see this movie. The other actors do a great job as well. Otherwise, it is not worth the time.
