Could be better
16 November 2020
I have liked the previous shows by Sarah Beeney - interesting, informative and entertaining. This is none of the above! Boring (how much entertainment is there in digging a hole?) and too much playing to the camera. I hung on to the end, hoping for something to redeem it. I imagine they are going to have problems with planning permission and perhaps the county archaeologist but I just can't be bothered to watch.

Not for me

Poor acting and weak childish humour. It must improve a lot to be the equal of "The Orville" (which watch to see how it is done!)

unexpectedly funny

I got this as part of a competition prize. I watched it, not really expecting much from an obviously low budget production. I laughed myself sick! There are obvious references to other films in the horror genre - Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Friday 13th etc. All the standard clichés were there - long drive through partially arid and somehow menacing countryside, inbred red-necks, mysterious vehicles tracking you - throw in some really good humorous scenes (siphoning petrol from the camper-van) and dialogue ("f*****g virgin? That's got to be an oxymoron.." and you have one of the best spoof horror films for years. I particularly liked the way our reluctant hero used his stress-related nose-bleed to great advantage..

Misses the mark
11 February 2008
I remember watching the first episode with high hopes - was I wrong! Embarrassingly unfunny is the mildest comment I can make. Ahead of its time? I don't think so - the jokes(?) just did not work and some of the actors appeared to be distinctly uncomfortable in their roles. The story? Set in a school presumably modeled along the lines of St Trinians, which is OK for the 50's, but completely misses the mark in the 80's. I started to cringe when the school supplies were delivered by a security firm (because the kids usually raided the van). It could have been funny but I think that the producer was trying too hard - any controversial material must have been lost in the general silliness of the script.
