Poisoned: The Dirty Truth About Your Food (2023)
It's a decent view
I just saw the movie and i was curious what rating it has on IMDb, can't say i am surprised.
Fortunately there aren't many reviews so i read all of them just to get an idea.
Debates are always positive, unless both parties are wrong. I like when a documentary leaves me slightly conflicted because i go to the reviews in hopes to find that random extra information i need to sway me into a certain direction but to be fair, these days is getting increasingly hard to find a documentary which is 100% unbiased or 100% accurate facts and it's our own societal/governmental evolution or rather "devolution" to blame for that.
Everything now has hundreds of entities that "govern" everything in-between, like the LGMA, no one knows who is doing what for who or who's to be blamed if things go (-) (-) up, but in practice we kind of all know that most are doing it for their own self existence, the old "getting paid by the company that you should investigate" conundrum is as old as time and just like sugar has now 999 different names on a label, it's getting harder to even know who's who.
I'm actually amazed that this docu' managed to pull the Purdue guy, LGMA guy and that "scientific" lady only to roast them.
There is always mostly one big lesson i learn and consolidate from a slew of very different documentaries, and that is the LAW, the GOV, the companies, never did or ever will care about what happens to us, and that there are a thousands companies getting bribes and salaries for no apparent reasons except play some make believe intermediaries, oh and also wash you leafy greens and cook your meat!
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Way better than expected
Just like in the other rare examples where sequels were better, Lord of The Rings, The Dark Knight, Empire Strikes Back, and actually not one but two of James Cameron's movies, Terminator 2 Judgement Day and Aliens, he did it with this one as well, at least in my opinion.
My biggest concern going in was who was going to be the bad guy again....is it going to be just people coming back again with bigger, stronger, faster weapons, etc but it was totally averted by doing something I really did not expect and it just opened up so many other narrative threads this can evolve into.
No point in mentioning visuals and graphics here, it is just another chapter that he and his team completely excelled at, it does look better than the first and the craze behind the water element and underwater scenes live up to the hype.
I hope it makes the money necessary to make the 4th and the 5th Avatar movies as I've heard the 3rd is already nearly complete.
One single complaint though and it's not even about the movie itself.
At current state, 3D is just not something I enjoy, personally i think it's a gimmick, darkens the image and just blurs out content, I only watch 2d which would've been fine but for some reason all IMAX and Superscreens are showing only 3D so i had to watch it on a small standard screen and this is definitely a BIG screen event.
Usually for all other big movies before Avatar there was always an option for IMAX and SS 2D version, i guess they just have ...reasons but nonetheless, the movie is a FEAST, go watch it!
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Son...I am disappoint
I was looking forward to this movie but unfortunately, the way it came it also went...the whole thing felt like the Matt Damon and Sam Neill play never ended but it trickled into the main movie.
I'm not sure I remember a scene where things were a bit serious, maybe when Thor was pleading with Zeus but then Zeus' accent and mannerisms took care of that.
Christian Bale's performance was the only solid in the movie, although wasted, it was nice to see Bale's grimaces again, guy is on a different level, apparently, he would've never done this if he wasn't mortally pressured by his kids which is totally understandable.
I like the whole cast but I will take this as a Christmas music video before Christmas, I even missed Korg and Miek, they always worked in my books, I should've added more of that than ...whatever was added instead.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Keeping the 9 for the 1st season but...
This is what happens when you stifle creativity with company rules and regulations, targets and data.
I knew they were going to play it safer when i read an article after they green lit second seaon , about how they are going to have less nudity and violence to "appease" the masses (the bad ones that won't even watch this probably, ONGs and pro that communities and anti that groups).
They never ever learn, please let ART be ART no one is going to use a gun because they used it in a game or saw it in a movie.
Waited a long time for this, maybe next season ;-<
Mandy (2018)
We need more of this style for Nic Cage
Any movie where Nicolas Cage plays Castor Troy aka where he yells, screams, cry is a treat.
Loved Colours out of space and can't wait to see his latest one.
Also great cast for this movie.
Welcome to Chechnya (2020)
People who say this is too long
I am only writing this for people who say this is too long and boring or not interesting.....waiting in line at a shopping place or to pay bills is long and boring.
I mean i get it, it's a production with a director, ok sure let's analyse it from cinematographic point of view...that's just crazy, this is pure 100% information delivered in a way that all can understand and relate.
Chick Fight (2020)
Stop microanalyze this and other films!
Honestly i went into this because of Malin Akerman and Alec Baldwin but i did not expect to have so much fun.
I really enjoyed the LGBT moments, I'm straight but i couldn't stop laughing and it's good to see the usher in of a new era where everyone is treated fair.
People and mostly critics i suppose, honestly don't know how to enjoy a movie, it's like imagine a pure laughing moment and then you start analyzing and say...."yeah but the overextension of the mandibula can cause strain and blablabla" this is just ridiculous.
Please remember your childhood.
Uncle Frank (2020)
Maybe it's not the 8 i gave but it's definitely at least 7 or 9
I usually don't review much but sometimes it saddens me to see such low grades on a beautifully made, heartwarmingly movie.
Sophia Lillis and Paul Bettany are 2 of the best.
There is a scene, you'll probably know when you'll see it, that completely engaged my empathy and emotions, made everything before and after it inconsequential, that's how powerful it was and I hope no one ever has to go through that, although i know a lot of people still do.
Wonderful movie, go see it and grow.
Mulan (2020)
Stop listening to others
I've just seem this movie. I've also seen the 2009 version and obviosuly the animation as well.
Of course it's hard when you try to bring animations to real life characters, it's easy to put soul and emotions in animations because it's being done my computers, perfect face movements, easy to project any emotion, from none to max with one click.
Sure this movie is not a perfect replica and if it was people would say that it's exactly like the animation, nothing new was added , why would i rewatch something exactly same...blablabla
As a standalone movie, disregarding any other versions, this movie is actually pretty good.
Amazing cast, awesome environments, this is an easy 7.
What i got from it is what i got from the original, a woman going against everyone, against tradition and whatever weird stuff imperfect human kind concocted through the ages.
Go see it and enjoy it, people have been without blockbuster movies for some time now thanks to Covid and now slowly we get some action here and there and they complain.
Criticisim is good but not when it's over the top and ridiculous, who gives 1 and 2 stars? Let's be resonable here folks.
Irresistible (2020)
Why so much hate?
I don't understand why people voted so low for this movie.
Haven't laughed like this in a while, loved the actors, great funny moments. I really think it captured a lot of real human dynamics not just politics and messages.
Going into this i didn't think i'd be entertained so much but i was very wrong.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
How did they aprove this?
Reminds me of Matrix Revolutions ending and all M. Night Shyamalan movie endings, anticlimatic AF but at least M. Night's endings are a bit weird but this one was like a soap opera created by 3rd graders.
If they would've ended with episode 5 it would've been 1000 times better.
I love this show still but the ending, don't have enough words to describe the disappointment.
Vice (2013)
The real word!
The world as it is. These people go to distance to show us how the world really works. Our planet is a very big and scary place, filled with dirty secrets, mayhem, destruction and what not. I get it how some might not like it, you might see some certain biased but it's clear that the guy does not work for any branch in the government and if he seems pro some people and against others, to me, it seems that those people he is rooting for probably deserve it. He does not make commercials, he does not go easy on anyone and sometimes, an innocent bystander could prove to be more of a use than a scientist or someone who has "official data", as we know the world is filled with official data and footage. I think this is one of the best shows out there.
