Terrible plot, mostly terrible cast
23 May 2022
Aside from the main Japanese cast, it seems like they were going for over the top, cliched actors/actresses delivering terrible lines. The locations were amazing. The plot seemed decent but quickly fell apart after about the halfway point. The action scenes involving the motorcycles had promise, but not only were they physics defying, but even 3rd grader logic defying. Now, if you enjoy straight up sword fights, this is possibly worth watching. Otherwise don't tarnish those childhood memories.

Well shot, but indecisive
6 March 2022
If you love indecisiveness then you should watch this movie, or maybe not. Maybe it's best to get another opinion? Do you have any friends who've seen it? Maybe ask them, or not.

No plot, no character development for main characters
6 March 2022
This movie sucks the chi out of the show Wu Assassins. The very minor plot involved simply serves to string together extended and beautifully choreographed fight scenes. Almost none of the lore from the show exists in the movie.

Cosmic Sin (2021)

Odds on Favorite To Sweep The Razzies
24 July 2021
There's some cool stuff in this movie. The idea of the armor they wear is cool, but they do a horrible job with it. At one point in the movie one of the leads looks like he's wearing a Comic-con rookie's stormtrooper store bought costume. The cast seems good enough, even if you consider Bruce Willis past his prime and only looking for a paycheck. Some of the sci-fi stuff is even cool.

The execution from top to bottom is absolute horse garbage. I wasn't expecting Armageddon. How this movie got any funding is a great question.

It's a very short feature film, I don't it even hit 90 minutes with the credits. Still, it's not worth wasting that much time in. The true cosmic sin would be letting someone else watch this film.

Another Ang Lee Action CGI Mishap
22 July 2021
While Ang Lee may be good at telling stories, he does not have a good track record with action movies. For me, the story is there. The plot seems fine.

The problem lies with the horrible CGI. The shame is that they seem to have done a good job of putting a younger looking Will Smith on screen. Where issues come in is the intense action sequences.

The action sequences could have been shot practically with stunt doubles or other movie magic with the trade off of a slightly less cool camera angle and still kept the movie immersive. The motion and movements of Will Smith's characters are so close to looking correct, but just that little degree of being off instantly breaks immersion for me when they doesn't feel like human movements.

Because this is an action movie and the action is where my biggest problems are, it drops my score from a 9 and possibly a 10, down at least 4 stars. I score strictly along the lines of enjoying a movie for what it's meant to be. If you're able to not be bothered by the CGI action I think you'll really enjoy the film.

A Glorious Look At Our American Past Through Our Absurdist Today
5 July 2021
If you don't like absurdist, raunchy or self-deprecating American branded humor take a hard pass. This movie essentially covers America's past and present, warts and all. Over-exaggerated caricatures of our nations most important leaders and shapers are on full display. With an attitude truly American we both mock and praise these historical figures with complete irreverence. The first 15 to 20 minutes may be light on plot to set up the tone of the movie, but from there a plot is birthed that allows this movie to be the 4th of July weekend movie we deserve.

Worth The 28 Year Wait
26 February 2021
Twelve year old me is finally at peace now that I've seen this movie. I've had 28 years worth of negative reviews to temper my excitement towards this movie and it finally wormed its way through my Netflix DVD queue.

At first glance this is a downright awful movie that doesn't stand on its own. At first glance it doesn't even seem to try stick to the source material other than the names of the two leads. However, through the lens of the games and the technology of the time they did a very good job of trying to stay true. Granted, some artistic liberties were taken with some aspects, but when you sit down and follow their line of thinking you can see the logic, even if it's not what you would have done.

Best Video Game Movie Ever
29 September 2018
While based off of an 8 bit, very simple Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game, a lot of thought was put into the plot to make it a viable script with a decent plot.

If you never played the game it's a awesome popcorn movie. The CGI is phenomenal. If you did play the video game there's plenty of references scattered throughout the city scenes.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays a good guy who is sort of Negan lite. Dwayne Johnson and George have good onscreen chemistry.

The bad guys in the movie are so completely cliched and one dimensional and that works perfectly with the script.

This movie will never win awards for acting or best picture, but it wasn't meant to. If you're looking for 100 minutes of outlandish entertainment this is worth the watch.

Deception (1992)

Running Errands With Andie
5 January 2014
I've seen plenty of terrible movies in my time, but this may be in the top 5 worst of all time.

The first 50 minutes of the movie feel like you're running errands with Andie Macdowell, and boring errands at that. The remaining 40 minutes of the US version Deception are only a minor improvement. I kept waiting for the "thriller" aspect of the movie to kick in and it never did.

There are several plot holes that never get filled, and the part that was cut from the US version would have most likely made the ending make at least some sense.

I wouldn't recommend watching this if you're a die-hard Viggo or Liam fan, they don't exactly have much screen time. However, if you've always wanted to know what it was like to spend 90 minutes with Andie this might be the perfect movie for you.

One of the greatest shows ever!
7 November 2003
What made the show great inevitably led to its downfall. Fox cancelled the show because of the extremely high production costs. (Around 50 million for the series?) That was what made the show great though. It was like a 60 minute movie. The shots, the carema angles, the exotic cars, all the pretty people...I hope this is where television goes in the future.
