White Noise (I) (2022)
8/10
Excellent
3 January 2023
Here is my review of White Noise and my attempt to interpret as best I can. It dealt with some heavy subjects. Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig turn in solid performances. Adam plays Jack and Greta plays his wife Babette. They both have a fear of death. Death, consumerism, media and fear are themes that run throughout the movie. The main characters deal with their fear in different ways. Jack is a professor of Hitler studies, a study he founded.

A line in the film refers to Hitler as, "a man who was bigger than death." I'm assuming Jack teaching about Hitler is a way he tries to conquer his fear. I won't say how Babette deals with her fear, so I don't reveal spoilers. Overall, this was a great film and very watchable and enjoyable, although off-beat and definitely an absurdist comedy. 8/10.

What a ride!

Wow. This one's amazing. Sam Raimi takes the helm as director with Danny Elman composing the music. The visual effects are stunning. Superb acting and great filmmaking!

It's really not that bad! Give this one a chance. It's not brilliant, but it's a fun movie from the late 80's. Great writing. Chevy Chase returns in his usual comedic form and the rest of the cast is pretty solid. Be the ball!

Buddy movie

So great. This is the kind of feel good movie that you can always watch. The Disaster Artist is directed, produced and starring James Franco. He plays Tommy Wiseau very well. What do you do when you move to Hollywood but don't have any success? Make your own movie! This is a movie almost every actor will relate to. Very well done and James Franco won a Golden Globe.

Perfect ending to a saga
21 December 2019
Wow. I can't help but wonder how it would have been different if George Lucas wrote this trilogy. But in my opinion, Disney has done a fantastic job. Having seen all the Star Wars movies, except for the animated Clone Wars, I thought this was the perfect ending to a beloved saga. Everything is resolved. Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia make appearances with Carrie Fisher's archive footage. You have to see it for yourself. 10/10

Awesome.

Like most of the reviews have said, this is not a superhero movie. You'll see no CGI and no elaborate fight scenes like we're used to seeing from Marvel. This is very much a dialogue driven movie. It breaks down Kevin Crumb and all of his personalities. There are basically two fight scenes in the movie. But overall it is very well done and if you're a fan of M. Night Shyamalan, then you know what to expect. 7/10.

Great, but.....

Avengers Infinity Wars is an excellent movie. Very well done in every way. I saw this in the theaters, and the one complaint I have is that it was hard to watch. In the opening scene, we see the ever powerful Thanos trying to get the Space Stone, while the Hulk, Thor and Loki try to stop him. They can't and so he retrieves the stone and begins his quest for the rest of the Infinity Stones. What follows it seems, is the Avengers pulling out all of the stops, trying to defeat Thanos and fighting a losing battle. Very cool, but hard to watch. Not sure, if I'll see it again. If by chance, you're one of the few people who haven't seen it, I won't give away the ending. The good news is that Captain Marvel has joined the Avengers. I'll have to see Endgame!

I really don't understand the hate for this movie. Don't listen to the bad reviews and watch it for yourself. The Lone Ranger is brought to you by the same team from Pirates of the Caribbean. If you're a fan of westerns, you will love it as it is very well done and a throwback to some of the classics. It has all the ingredients of an epic adventure movie.

Classic
8 April 2019
Since I was unfamiliar with the source material, before watching I listened to the score by Tchaikovsky. Doing some research, I found that it was an adaptation of the two stories. I thought they did a great job with the material. There is music and dancing, of course. A great cast and Kiera Knightley shines as the Sugar Plum Fairy. It's everything you would expect from Disney. A great performance from Mackenzie Foy as well. The movie starts out on Christmas eve. Clara is given a gift from her late mother and then the family leaves to a ball. Soon, Clara finds herself in another realm and must get the key to end the war. Excellent! 10/10

This is one of the few movies that I can keep coming back to. When it starts out, we see Mark with his girlfriend. She basically breaks up with him. We see him and his friends at Harvard and soon after he starts developing Facebook. The movie cuts between a meeting with his lawyer and those suing him to the events leading up to Facebook. I found it fascinating. They made it so dramatic and draw you into the story. Definitely recommended! 10/10.

Fair and entertaining

Pretty good. From the beginning, we see Jack performing and then it goes to Ally and how they meet. From there, they begin a relationship and her fame begins as he struggles with alcoholism. It was a little much seeing the scenes where he is constantly drinking and we see his downward spiral. Ally is dedicated to the relationship. There were enough good parts that I will give it a 7 out of 10. Check it out.

Wow.

I don't usually get into TV shows. There are a few I like and I will watch a few episodes. I haven't finished watching the pilot episode, but I can already tell this is an amazing show. I just found my new favorite show and superhero The Flash. (By the way, my second favorite superhero is Cannonball.) Great casting and writing. Lots of action! Can't ask for much more! 10/10

I really love this movie! It's safe to say that the remake of the classic film is my Number 1 favorite movie. It really has everything. Great writing, dialogue and action. Keanu Reeves does a fantastic job as Klaatu. There's not a lot more you can ask for. Great directing. We see Klaatu becoming a bit of a father figure to Jacob, as he doesn't have one. Just amazing. #1. 10/10.

Mandy and Claire play two sisters and very well I should say. Great performances, writing and dialogue. They are both vacationing in Mexico. They meet two guys who tell them how fun it is to go cage diving in the sea. As Lisa's (Mandy Moore) boyfriend has just broken up with her, her sister Katie (Claire Holt) convinces her to go. Everyone knows what's going to happen, but like Jaws, the movie keeps your interest and keeps you in suspense. We see a bit of their relationship, as Katie is the adventurous one and Lisa always saw herself as boring. I won't give away the ending, but I really enjoyed it.

Awesome
12 December 2018
As I began watching this, I started to think of two other movies: Step Up and Stick it. I won't break down the details, but there are some similarities. There is dancing and in Ariana's routine she also dances. This movie has a lot of heart, it's based on a true story. A young gymnast has dreams of going to college and competing, but then gets in a car accident. It seems like all of her dreams are crushed and she won't be able to do gymnastics anymore. She eventually recovers and joins a hip hop dance team. She has to choose between her love for gymnastics and helping her new friends. Definitely recommended.

Very good
12 December 2018
Here we have another installment of Beeethoven, now a celebrity dog. Very good and enjoyable. Great writing and good performances all around. A Christmas elf takes Santa's sleigh and crashes into a tree. Then he meets Mason. With Beethoven's help, they try to find a missing toy bag. Meanwhile, Mason's mother has to design a float for the Parade. Nothing brilliant here, but there are funny moments. If you're looking for a feel good, Christmas movie, this is it.

This movie is such an under rated gem. Great writing and great cast. From one of the producers of Dumb and Dumber, it totally works as a comedy. Very fun. It's a little over the top, but very funny. Great for a Friday or Saturday night with the guys. I just found my favorite movie!

This is the movie that launched Jim Carrey's career. Here we see him doing what he does best, showcasing his wild, slapstick comedy. Extremely funny and refreshing. I watched this again last night. Always entertaining.

Definitely worth checking out!
10 March 2018
Here we have an updated version of MacGyver. I know that some have said that it's a cliche, following after shows like CSI and the like. Yes, it is a cliche and follows a formula. That doesn't mean that it's not entertaining! What sets MacGyver apart is his knack to work with minimal resources. There is a nice twist in the first episode. 8/10

School's Out. Anything can happen!
5 December 2017
Well, I have to say this is the quintessential movie of my childhood. I could definitely relate to the character of Mark. Having a crush on the popular girl and dreaming of one day being with her. This movie is obviously for kids, but it is a lot of fun with a good message. Whether you are young or old, you should check this one out.

Haters Back Off! (2016–2017)

Pretty good
5 December 2017
I haven't seen the second season yet, but I watched the entire first season. This character Miranda is comparable to Pee Wee Herman which I have read in some reviews. The contrast, of course, is that Miranda is caught up in her own world; her imagined fame and success. Here we get to see her odd family and perhaps her only friend Patrick. The show is pretty refreshing. I feel like there is a lot of potential that you could do with a character like this and they seem to do that very well. Give this one a chance and you will be laughing. Netflix canceled the series, but luckily us fans will still be able to see her on YouTube.

Gore verbinski is my favorite director. I caught this one on DVD and I must say that it's pretty amazing. It keeps you guessing until the end. Is he imagining what's happening to him or is it real? It takes place in the Swiss Alps. The imagery and special effects are amazing. Excellent cast and Dane really shows off his talent. Check it out.
