Far Cry 4 (2014)
Far Cry 3 is better. Still a great game
For me,I preferred 3. Better story. Min is a great character but he isint in it long enough. Vaas, albeit should have been the main bad guy,was a fantastic character and he had a bigger presence in 3 then Min had in 4. 4 story is quite poor in my opinion,I know vast majority play these games for the free roam aspect of the game but at least 3 had a good story to go along with the great gameplay.
Gameplay in both is really enjoyable. Outposts is the standout for me. And 4 added forts to the mix which are tough if you take them on without taken out the respective 'boss' for each fort. The use of bait, attracting a bear, tiger or a mighty honey badger,to attack nearby enemies was a good touch. There is lots to do in the game,a lot of side missions. The hunting missions are really good too which you will need to do to upgrade your kit. The map is huge and because of the location of the game you get to see a lot of impressive visuals. The Himalayan missions are standout for me.
Overall a very enjoyable game, just don't expect a great story. That's the only downside
The Last of Us (2013)
PS3 Swansong.........and what a swansong
The Last of Us truly deserves the word EPIC attached to it.
Just when gamers are used to another shooter coming along or another game title with a different digit comes out, out from Naughty Dogs genius comes this true gem of a game. This generation have been crying out for a new IP that it deserves and we got one.
Everything from the gameplay to the setting, the graphics to the eerily beautiful score, this game puts almost all current Gen games to shame on all counts.
The game is set 20 years after a pandemic sweeps the US ( for those who have not played the game, prepare for one of THE intros to a game/movie ever ). Joel, a 20 year 'vet' is a smuggler, along with his partner Tess. The two can just about smuggle anything in and out of the Quarantine Zone they now find themselves in. This time, the cargo is different.
Ellie is the 'cargo' but there is more to her that meets the eye.
Throughout the course of the game, Joel and Ellie travel through the US, encountering various allies........and foes. All of whom are unforgettable and play a vital role in the story.
Thats all I am going to say about the story, you have to experience it yourself.
Gameplay consists of sneaking because even though its a ND game, Uncharted it ain't! Supplies are limited so open combat is not advised, but thats the beauty of this game. You can 'Call of Duty' your way through or avoid combat all together in some cases. Play the game on survivor for a real challenge, supplies are really limited!
The score and voice acting are amazing. As I said, every character is unforgettable ( especially a character later in the game ). But its Ellie and Joel who are the stars of the show and there journey will stay with you long after the credits roll. The infected are gruesome and the 'Clickers' can really be terrifying! Play it with lights off and volume up!
If you have a PS3 PLAY THIS GAME!
(first review so be gentle with me :) )
