The Tomorrow War (2021)
Answer these questions if you think the movie is good
Why draft everyday people to go to war with 0 training? Why say prepare for landing (supposed to be 10-5feet about ground) and gets dropped at the height of a skyscraper and 12/100 survive? Why have 3Million bullets in 30 round mags? Why do characters not know how to run? Scratch that. Why get a solution to not use it? Why not tell anyone you found the solution? Why decide to 1v1 the boss in hand to hand combat? Who the hell can shoot an AX-50 sniper rifle at close range through the scope or hip fire IN SNOW and never miss?! ._. Who decides to find an alien ship based on a 12 year olds knowledge of volcanos (clearly the smartest person in this movie btw)? How come they know how to time travel and don't know how time travel works? They use the poison vials on all but 7 aliens out of 1000? Why did they start killing aliens before checking the ship for I don't know the Colony? Lmao colony wipes out earth in 2048 where humans are far more "capable", but 8 people and 1 single c4 is all it takes to win? I'm sure there are more but who am I to make a quiz for the mentally challenged who thought this movie was good :3.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016)
A Better 7th Season...Not A Great 8th
**CONTAINS SPOILERS**
First things first, love love this show and all the characters and was so excited for its return. Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life is..well exactly that. As if after almost 10 years nothing had changed. And in a sense, that was very nice to see. The quirky banter and relationship between Rory and Lorelai, and Lorelai and Emily was as if no time passed at all. Stars Hollow still beaming brightly with seasonal festivities with Taylor being Taylor at the forefront. Loved seeing all the beloved characters again - especially Paris and Kirk. Both still crazy as ever. Lane and her band, Michel, Paul Anka - both of them. Even the town troubadour was back. The secret bar made me chuckle. It was also nice to see Luke's "modernized"...and loved Jess for bringing it back lol. Lots of memories here and all the good times easily come flooding back. But once the nostalgia passes the reality sets in that - EVERYTHING is still the same. **Spoilers**
At the end of the original series finale, the audience was left feeling an uncertainty for the characters. Such as what's next for Rory? She didn't get her fellowship, she let Logan leave, and she felt overall lost in life while her peers were excelling around her. Same with Lorelai. What's going to happen between Lorelai and Luke? Just friends or something more? At least we got more closure with them. In the revival, the characters have "matured" but its all still the same. Rory is still lost and trying to find her way in her career and personal life and Lorelai and Luke are still figuring things out. Instead of the revival focusing more on Rory finally finding her way in her adult life it focused way too much on Lorelai, IMO. But it was nice seeing the Gilmore women come together to support each other with the passing of Richard and to see how each handled the grief. Sadly there were way too many random plot intros and unanswered questions to fully appreciate it. A musical? Therapy? Surrogate? Lane's Dad? Wild? just to name a few. This revival was not treated as if these are the Last episodes Ever of the series but as one conglomerate pilot episode squeezing in as much info to desperately try and maintain a steady rating so it will not be cancelled. (re-read that sentence, that's basically the feeling) Either that or one massive cliff hanger...which brings me to the end of the final episode. Sigh. Who did Rory end up with? The question we have all been waiting years for..Logan or Jess? (stop it, we all know there is no team Dean)..who would she choose? It didn't even matter to me which one she chose, I am the #1 fan of both teams. *Spoiler*...plot twist, she chose neither, as in no one. And after hearing the final four words and knowing my question will never be answered, my final four words, that quietly escaped from under my breath, was "Amy, how could you?" At the end of it all, Rory still had no career, no money, no man, and no bright light shining at the end of the tunnel reassuring us that she was going to be OK on her own. Instead, this show went full circle, when it didn't have to. It could have horseshoed and continued on into greatness. The only thing that could make up for this is a Season 2...with answers...and to bring back the Life and Death Brigade, which was my favorite part :)
Overall a Year In The Life was fun but pointless. There was no evolvement, no progress. I felt like this was a slightly better 7th season, instead of the great 8th and final one. Too much content with too many characters and not enough time to make it all make sense. I rated it 8 out of respect and love of the show...without the rose colored glasses and hot guys its easily a 6.
Backyard Wedding (2010)
I liked where it was going
This movie is predictable, sloppy, and somewhat stupid but if you can relate, in any way, you will like the concept. I feel very conflicted, liked some parts and didn't like others. Basic plot: childhood sweethearts get married too early so they divorce. Girl gets engaged to another guy and right before the wedding the first guy realize he was an idiot. Girl then gets all stuck in her feelings...( I mean who hasn't done that right?)
So here's what I liked: Not your usual Hallmark movie! Did not have that hallmark feel, (that strict beginning, middle, end formula) probably a bad thing but I kinda liked it. Somewhat refreshing. I loved the fact that they're childhood sweethearts. No denying that chemistry. The main actors chosen did OK, there was a few misses at times but I think overall they captured the correct emotion. I felt the pain and hurt and confusion both Evan and Kim had. (Even if they didn't really do a good job showing it, I imagined the rest since I could relate). I really just liked the general concept. I liked what they tried to do.
What I didn't like (I would rate this a 2 on a technical standpoint): 1) NO character development.- not for the main characters and definitely not for the secondary cast. Took forever to find out why Kim/Evan divorced, Never found out what job Jeffery had that he was willing to risk everything for, had no idea who half the people in the scene was (no/late character introduction) I found myself always asking, "who is this??" 2) No story development. Yes I liked the general idea but the story definitely needed more work. The writers had us believing the crazy blond bridesmaid was the antagonist, when the story actually had none. Tons of inconsistencies. Why did it take Evan 4 years to realize he wanted to be with Kim? Even he couldn't answer that. How have he changed after 4 years? "He just grew up??" Not buying it. Why did the dads hate each other? One minute Kim is hiding from Evan and literally the next scene they're shopping together?? The writers definitely get an F and the director gets a C-. No character or story development, plot holes, random shots of irrelevant characters, god awful writing, weak intro and concluding voice overs.
The writers was this film biggest issue. As I said before, I just liked the general concept simply bc I went through something similar and happy their story turned out better than mine. Truth be told this film should've never left pre production. If I couldn't relate I would rate this movie a 4.
